    UTV Overlanding?

I think that's me at the first ridge way in the distance, leaning on a tree, gasping for air on my bicycle. _ Yeah, I'm way too impatient to take a truck up and down obstacles I can clear pretty quick on my bike or ATV. My family really doesn't like the "wheel", so it's great to set up...

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

I was getting 8MPG towing a 6x12 enclosed trailer (F150 2.7L Ecoboost). But I was also going 75-80MPH. If I bring it down to 65MPH, I'm at around ~12 MPG. Which is what I expect. _ Size of the Colorado would surely be welcome, though. Finding parking spots at times down right stinks. Need...

Looks like the exterior is at least in great shape. Should be a fun vehicle.

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

Typically, it never works in your favor to purchase a new vehicle in an effort to lessen overall ownership costs. _ For instance, in this case. I assumed 20k miles per year driving. Gas is $2.29 national avg, and diesel is $2.51. PW gets 13mpg and 8 mpg towing. Canyon gets 30mpg and 20mpg...

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

I agree with you that a HD, 3/4-1ton truck will tow better, it's not from engine power. I have no directly experience with GM V8's, but I know Ecoboost will tow uphill just fine. As much as I don't particularly find any significance to TFL "tests", if you look up their tow test up the...

    2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2

You're right in that the 2nd gen seems to drive bigger. But they're both pretty big vehicles. Probably not the best vehicles for your neck of the woods. There is much more open backcountry roads out here in the west, so fortunately, I get the comforts of the big rig and the ability to access...

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

Engine power is not going to be an issue. Typically, that's never really the issue with towing. Going from a 3/4 ton to mid-size? You will definitely notice that. _ Just curious, if you're keeping the PW, why get another truck? Seems like a net negative, financially.

    2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2

Guess it just depends what you want to do with it, but there are a LOOOOT of trails a full-size truck like that will go on. The 1st Gen Tundra is only slightly bigger than a Tacoma, so it'll fit on more trails...but if I'm driving on trails where 1st will fit but 2nd gen won't...I'd rather be...

    2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2

It was the crack about your Tacoma being old and crusty, wasn't it? :D _ The new Tundra's interior (07+) is a vast improvement from 05-06. I don't mind the old interior, personally. V8 is nice, too.

    UTV Overlanding?

Yeah, I get what you're saying. But certain vehicles tend to attract a specific kind of people (generally speaking). i.e. BMW's. Prius. You get me? _ I'm in UT as well. While I've never been down to Moab during UTV rally's, I've been around the Jeep and dirt bike crowd long enough to...

Load range E on a tacoma?

On my old Tacoma, I ran BFG KM's in that exact size. LR C, I believe it was. I took it on some pretty rough trails (Moab, and other places in Utah). Zero issues with them. I'm not familiar with General, as I've never ran them. But I can attest to BFG's stoutness (adding to DiD's comment...

    2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2

I believe they moved the gas tank lower, among other components to maximize interior space. They're pretty spacious and efficiently designed. Plasticy? Yep. Again, total utilitarian. I had a Fit, which had a similar layout with magic seats. Wonderful use of space. _ Regarding the...

    UTV Overlanding?

I don't have one, but family and friends do. They would be great where I live. TONS of forest roads to explore. Much more capable than your average "overlander" truck. Faster through obstacles, faster traversing over rough roads, etc. I've got plenty of seat time in RZR's and other UTV's...

Those Elements have a cult following, especially since they stopped production. I'd always wished they came with 4 real doors and 3 seats across the back. Very cool utilitarian vehicle. And the e-camper should've come as an option from the factory!

DiD speaks the truth! We've all gotta make hard choices. Just be thankful you don't need to make one like mine: We may need to get a minivan soon. (Wife won't drive an SUV--hates them). I've got similar problems as DiD. Garage isn't big enough for both the van and my full size. Uh oh. I...
