Don't you have X-mode? I heard that works well. Wish my Outback had it.

    Jeep to F150 HD SCREW...

Could be weight, but I've not had any issues. Of course, if I'm in 2WD, I get sideways pretty easy, but in 4WD has been solid.

I think it's safe to say we can all now safely convert to Hinduism from the number of times we've witnessed this horse reincarnated. :D _ Clutch -- Times are changing. No perfect config exists anymore for you, it seems (in US). But just be thankful you still have manual steering/braking! :D _...

I ended up going tonneau cover as I haul odd sized stuff every now and then. But still wanted a weather proof cargo option. A cover like Extang Solid Fold would work good for you. Quick install/removal. Not to keep beating the dead horse, but so you can put your nearly-dead horse out of its...

Sounds like you need to swap vehicles with the wife then. :D _ Hope you get it figured out.

Mileage differences between 235/85 and 265/75r16?

I had both on my Tacoma. 235/85 and 265/75 on the same factory rims, same tires (BFG KO). Zero MPG difference. People incorrectly assume 235 will get better mileage, as it's skinnier. But think about it--We're talking 2" in total width difference between two front tires. Really has no...

    Bed covering

I'd take a look at Extang Solid Fold. Super easy install and removal. I have a Bakflip and wish I had bought that instead. Mine has rails that must be clamped to the bed, which would definitely not work with a camper. Solid Fold needs none of that. Just clamps on...

A good friend of mine's mother had a late 80's hatchback. I think it even had low range. 5-speed (maybe it was 4, I don't know). 4WD. The thing was a beast. _ But glad my wife's Sub is nothing like that, though. Super comfy ride and gets us through snow storms like a champ.

Ride is definitely better. Quieter. But that also has to do with P-rated tires my friend had vs AT tires I had on my Tacoma at the time. They're not much different in drive feel than the Pilots, which do great on road. Just not a vehicle I'd trust off-road over long term. I'd keep an eye...

A friend of mine has the original gen and loves it. He bikes and does house projects. Never camps. Hardly ever goes off asphalt (if ever?). Perfect for someone like him. No low range in those, but does have some sort of beefed up LSD that supposedly works really well.

Convince me to get rid of my 4Runner for a Land Cruiser.

Or just get the million different seat covers offered on the market. There's neoprene, canvas, etc.

I haven't looked under the current gen Ridgeline, but the prior gen...it was like looking under my Subaru. Suspension components aren't too robust. Unibody issues aside, I think longevity would be a concern if I were taking it off road, or even as Clutch mentioned, backcountry roads. They...

I just did a Build&Price on AU Ford site, and I could get a Ranger, 3.2 or 2.2L (diesel) with 6-sp manual. Both crew and ext cabs. Even Chassis cabs (Flat bed would be super cool, although for me, a regular bed is more useful. Still looks super cool with steel wheels, black cladding). Of...

For sure, you can go from a mundane outing to a life threatening situation pretty quick out there. I am especially more mindful of this during the winter time, and take more precautions if I am out of cell/people range. Preparation and know-how is important. But even with the "right"...

It's all based on our own comfort level. I drive through the backroads of Utah and WY regularly. But never placed a value on having a bull bar. (queue the deer running in front of my truck next week ). Along with some of the other "expo required" equipment. If I start down the "what...

That Mobtown recovery points and receiver is perfect. Light, simple, effective. I really wouldn't have much use for a winch, especially for the places I go, but recovery points are nice. For those occasional trips that would require a winch, I could just carry one of those portable ones that...
