Well we were speeding, 20 over actually, and for some reason the rig did smell like weed on the outside up front. So I just cooperated and went on my way. The two park rangers were cool and after talking to them for 20mins or so I think they realized we were straight shooters. He even I think...
Mandatory stop in Zion NP on our way back. Was cool to see in the fog and rain, so many waterfalls I've never seen before!
Then leaving Bryce Canyon I got stopped for speeding downhill and the Park Ranger claimed he smelt weed on the outside of my vehicle. After waiting around for over an...
Thanks! Yea everything I seem to look up that is good quality is for boats. The vents I want are for boats as well but they are close to $400 a piece! Boat parts are expensive!
Once I get it home I will be installing a rear locker. That's what I ultimately decided, 2wd with a lift, locker, and a winch should get me almost everywhere I need!
Haha I don't have a build thread for it, it's a 1959 Ford P400. I got a little over zealous and gutted the whole thing then started to remove the walls haha. I bought all the sheet metal to redo the sides but lost interest when the cold weather rolled around, then I bought the Chinook. New plan...
Correct, we bought the cabinet fronts from Ikea then took them to Sherman Williams and had them match the paint in a high gloss enamel.
We bought the sienna seats to replace the front seats. We love how comfortable the current front seats are but hate how they look now that we updated the rest...
Actually I forgot a guy I know from the Chinook forum was trying to sell his ALREADY 4x4 converted Chinook, $35k http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/163906-2004-Chinook-4x4-35000-Austin?highlight=Chinook
Just searched quick, there really was only this one for sale and a 2005 that was 60k so I didn't link it. The rest were scams.
This one is a pretty good deal tho. 56k miles and with the V10. Probably could get it for $15,000

That's the hardest part, finding one haha. I was dead set on a side entry model, which are rare, so it took me almost a year to find mine checking CL everyday. But if you don't mind the layout of a rear entry Chinook, then it wouldn't be as hard. I searched rv sale sites and Craigslist...
Back to your original question, I was in the same boat as you. Same budget and needs/wants. After looking at sprinters, transits, busses, ambos, etc. I made a decision on a Chinook. Having had it for 6months now and two cross country trips, I'm glad I went this route over anything else. Cheap to...
Once the Chinook is back home in March I'm going to be upgrading the existing solar setup with some 100w renorgy panels and another battery (3 total). At this time I'm going to pull everything off the roof, clean it, paint it, then move the solar to the other side and build a roof rack for my...
Thanks! I'm not 100% yet but I think it's going to be a jeep color, Anvil Grey/Blue that comes on the new wranglers. Some of the stripes will stay and they will be satin black. That or a Brown color!
Made one of the dinette benches pull out towards the door for better sleeping options for an adult. Almost a foot longer sleeping this way and although ones feet will hang off the edge, now an adult should be able to sleep somewhat comfortably.
Got them off eBay. Just search "RV push button knobs", most are all plastic but if you search some are metal like the ones I got. The finish wasn't great on mine but I cant complain because I mention it to the seller and they refunded my money for them and didn't ask for them back.
Hmmm good question. Right now there is a large storage area under the bed. The forward section of the bed hinges up to access the area as well as a pull out draw on the side that opens toward the kitchen area. Then there is a door on the back of the rig to acess the large area of the storage...
Installed these rad little knobs on the closet and bath doors.
Also speaking of the bathroom here's the only shot I have of it, from before the remodel.
