The odd thing with the kijaro shade was that it didnt come loose or flap or anything before the rear poles broke. The wind wasn't that strong but it IS basically a huge sail! I'm thinking something smaller. I considered a heavy mesh type cover but it rains so much, and rain protection is a...

FS: Jeep JKU Hardtop Freedom top with AEV Rack and ARB Awning

Not interested but posting a location might help? PA license plate?

Hope that's not the kijaro shade I bought at dicks as well. Mine was securely tied down on the white rim and a wind came through, the rear poles folded up and it self destructed. I return it and I'm looking for a more secure option. May end up with a small arb awning or making my own.

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

Factory 4.10 gearing with the six speed. I'm not sure if I want 4.56 gears (slightly slower than stock tires) or 4.88s (which will probably hurt fuel economy a little more). During good conditions I still get 16mpg in town and 15mpg highway. However the last 600+ miles have been closer to...

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

I've been told there one in the area that looks like his. Someone on another forum told me that he saw it in Salem, no idea who it is. Nice trailer! The last two days I drove from Vegas to Bakersfield CA, then to Eureka CA. Somehow I managed to end up with a 30-40 mph headwind on both...

    Why Roof Top Tent

I love that setup, this is what I decided on. Minimal setup (less than a minute?), closing up is nearly as quick. Hard roof over head, tough sides that do not flap even with 40+ mph winds. Minimal fabric to collect water. Vehicle heat and a/c can be blown up top. This top stays on all...

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

Very cool, congrats! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have mine so far! I think I need to add a second battery and a 12v power supply "upstairs". A fan up there would have made a huge difference the last few nights.

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

Ah, yeah, I just meant for me I guess. ;) A couple randoms from today. Still having a hard time getting my wife to get out and take pictures on the steep ledges and climbs so these are a little boring. Haha

The awning is a kijaro versa shade. About 15 minutes after they picture the wind bend/broke the poles and destroyed it. Not recommended for much more than a light breeze. Disappointing. Heading to Bryce Canyon tomorrow probably. Ran the fins n things trail this morning. Straight up and...

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

Yeah we went a little overboard on food stuff before we left. No need to pack it all in. We camped friday night outside of Moab but arrived late and got stuck at a private camp with people partying until 4am. Left early in the morning for canyonlands, got sites for four nights along the...

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

It should be alright, just fold down the back seat and throw them in! Most of my crap stuff in the back is just food, water, cooking stuff, cooler etc. Overnight trips are pretty easy but I'm trying to leave enough elbow room for 11 days with two of us, then I'll be solo for a few days on the...

    Pronghorn new bumper for JK

To each his own but I agree with the last couple posts. It looks like an over priced erector set bumper. No way am I reconfiguring a bumper every weekend because I want lights this weekend and a winch next. The side pieces of the bumper seem to sit as low as the stock one did is well. The...

billboards hauler: homebuilt fiberlgass composite popup for flatbed tundra

Looking good! You might want to consider making the rear wall/door opening more stout though...? It seems like some others who built pop-ups under estimated the amount of force on that rear wall with the roof opening and closing and the frame flexing. I don't know the strength of the nida...

    JK aux fuel tank

Funny I was looking at this thread last night... The 2012+ has the evap canister (easily relocated) but the exhaust has a resonator in this location. IF that is the only issue the resonator could be removed and a new exhaust fabricated, I assume? I'd be curious if that was the only reason.

XPCamper V2 Tacoma Camper: Specs, Pics and Pricing

Very cool, and reasonable pricing for the camper I think. Seeing that a wider model for f150 is in the works makes me wish I would have bought another f150. I'm enjoying my jeep and camper but that is a very slick setup!

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

I spent several hours shuffling items around in the Jeep this afternoon, trying to figure out how to pack for two of us for 10+ days. Several different approaches came to mind. I too hate stacking. I don't like to have to move one item to get to another either. And I like to make our...

Mid travel suspension vs long travel

The Dixon bros kit is an awesome kit but I wouldn't run it without custom high strength high angle CVs. If you get someone like RCV to build custom shafts to go with the kit, do it! I'm assuming you're looking at 98+ 4x4? You really need to give some more hints about the truck and what you...

Cobblecrazy, I hope you don't mind my continued posts in this thread. You had a lot of information and pictures running so I've just been adding my experience to it. Yesterday my wife and I went camping at Cape Lookout on the Oregon coast. We were right on the beach, just behind a 20' tall...

31s and 4 inch lift on JK

The jk is a lot different than the older rigs. You can run 33s or 35s on stock suspension with fenders. Like a said, with a 4" lift you need adjustable control arms (or brackets), ideally high steer drag link and track bar brackets (axle side is better), front driveshaft, exhaust y pipe mods...

31s and 4 inch lift on JK

I would have to imagine this is a joke. Unless you're installing a 4" lift and don't have the cash for wheels and tires yet? Stock rubicons are 32" tall. As mentioned, 35s fit with 2-3" lift. A 4" lift that is actually a quality kit is going to be expensive, require exhaust and driveshaft...
