A little winch on both sides of the roof would be one way. Something little like this would be enough. They have remotes controls and are $130 each.

It takes a bit to rattle her nowadays :) I think there was only minor damage to that one, all the tyres etc were props to stop if from going further. Would have been very scary.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Yes, if one of the downhill tyres let go with a bang, I think may have been in trouble. When they failed out on the road, it did take about 30 seconds for them to go down. It looks pretty scary, and I have to admit I was concerned, but also was confident enough to drive out. Always a...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

To be honest I was quite sure it would be OK, or I would not have driven down the hill in the first place. By my calculations, we should be good up to 35 degrees, I estimate the CG to be almost at the level of the rear hatch handle. We have had it at 28 degrees before, and this was at 30 degrees...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

It was pretty scary, lucky I had new tyres on. The worst point was when the roof bars got to the end of the tree we were leaning on, even going in 1st gear low range, iti did slip off quite quick. In hindsight I should have used the winch / snatch block on the rest of the slope as well. There...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

We drove down a pretty steep side slope today, over 30 Degrees on our in-cab Tiltometer. We were on a Defender Club day our part of a long convoy. We came down a steep hill and then were on the side slope, no way to turn around. It was way beyond our comfort limits, but we made it...

    Roof escape hatches.

The Vetis Marine hatches we have are certified waterproof to 5m depth, and no doubt they are when the seals don't have small sticks or leaves in the them. We can even leave them in the second lock position which has a small gap for ventilation if the seals are clean. The reality of traveling...

    Roof escape hatches.

A hatch over the bed is never a good idea, as one day it will leak, just a leaf or two in the seal and you have a wet bed. We have Vetis Marine hatches, not over the bed but they have leaked a bit on occasion.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Finished with the current modifications. First the new 190lt fuel tank, all sorted and connected. It took 20lts to get to the point where I could get the fuel pump to suck The tool box is also in, it is big enough to hold four jerry cans, but most of the time it will just be extra...

Our new home on wheels ... MAN 16.232 Expedition Truck Build

You are doing an awesome job on your new truck. Going to be fantastic. One question about your twin water pressure regulators, are they in series or parallel. In series it will give double protection, if one fails then the other one will provide pressure protection, but in parallel, if one...

    Getting water into tank

I have a 15 lt stainless steel bucket and a 12v submersible pump. The pump is strong enough to pump through the a couple of filters so we have clean water going into the tank, just in case we have to fill up from a rainwater tank. We have a couple of 10lt square buckets that we can use to...

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

I have a fuel filter/water trap on the outlet from the tank, it protects the three way Pollock valve and the feed pump. It has proved it's worth a couple of times. In the Outback we try never to fill up both tanks from the same service station, and three time we have had the filter block...

Gluing glass panels into aluminum frame. Sika?

Use the primer if you want it to last. It is not worth the risk of the glass coming off for $50 worth of primer.
