    Which Overland Vehicle and Why?

Lots of areas we passed through between Zion and Moab were gas only. One place even was one grade gas only. Just passing thru its not a huge issue. But if your staying in one of those areas and using the diesel to explore I can see it being a bigger problem than just an annoyance. 395 along the...

    Which Overland Vehicle and Why?

I noticed the same thing on my last two big trips. Lots of remote stations with no diesel. Its a known thing among the locals. They are quick to share where the closest diesel pump is.

    Intech Explore build

I put two 2inch REI inflatable pads under our typical 3 inch foam padding. Huge!!!! Improvement! If you have a inflatable camp pad try tossing it under the stock one. Might be all you need.

    Increasing Tacoma's GVWR

My Expedition in lousy short kid hauling around town does 18mpg tank averages. Our two day ski trip was 21mpg average. Its impressive what full sized rigs do now. None of my Toyotas 25yrs worth got good mileage the worst was my J80. Probably my biggest issue with my J80 was the horrendous...

Two adults, a 14-month-old, and small dog get out of the heat trailer ideas?

Moab city pool was awesome! We would get there at 4pm after a day of hiking etc. Swim till 7pm nearly whole place to ourselves after 5pm. Stop and get tacos on the way back to our camp/trailer at the RV park. 3 days was enough. North Rim Jacobs Lake was awesome I could have stayed there 4+ days...

    Increasing Tacoma's GVWR

I just caved on my midsized SUV search. Bought a 2019 Expedition. So far it has a tighter turning radius than my 06 Sequoia, yeah its wide but side by side they are surprisingly close in size. Would I take the Expedition where I’ve taken my Sequoia yes except for one trip where we did trails...

Two adults, a 14-month-old, and small dog get out of the heat trailer ideas?

Two kids and its a constant search. Go with as little setup as possible however!!! Keep tow ability in mind. My Tent on a trailer 9 yrs of use has had me looking at multi use options. Given thats my original lifetime tent/utility trailer. Its been great except!! Setup time 20-30 minutes, non...

    Increasing Tacoma's GVWR

Im pretty sure the US crash standards are some how playing into frame strength on the new trucks as in where they bend when hit from behind, this has been an interesting topic in the bent Colorado/Canyons “V”. So difference in Hilux vs Taco is likely far more than just leaf springs and ratings...

    E350 Chinook Build

This is a trend actually in Utah. Lots if “tail light” stops that some how require a drug dog. Seems to be getting lots of attention lately in the direction of unlawful stops.

Overlander, new “affordable” Earthroamer type rig

My only point is that many of these threads morph into the it’s required to see X. As mentioned above. When thats very very far from reality. Yes some people “not very many” purchase these types of things. As a owner of many properties I could also buy one of these. Or one of those super fancy...

Overlander, new “affordable” Earthroamer type rig

All of which get visited by people in Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas. I don’t get the whole “you need a built vehicle” to see these places mentality

Overlander, new “affordable” Earthroamer type rig

Last I checked every major part of North america was accessible via paved roads. Alaska being the last to get paved roads. So what I hear you saying is that people must drive their large vehicle up a dirt spur road to qualify as traveling and exploring North America? They cant take tours, go...

Looking for thoughts on truck for hauling camper

Lifted and hard side heavy camper? Do you or your usual passengers get car sick? Possibly the worst camping trip I ever took was in a lifted full size with hard side camper. If your going lightweight popup camper thats a different story. My cousin collects F350’s not sure why. But he has a...

Overlander, new “affordable” Earthroamer type rig

I sail on salt water meaning if I drop $100+k on a “Adventure” rig I can travel the world. I get the cool factor of these RVs and hope some ideas get picked up by the Winnebago’s and Forest whatever’s to improve RV quality and get away from the disposable RV trend. But when average Joe’s can...
