Subaru Forester or Outback...Which one and why?

Really? I question your seat fit logic that Jetta has super narrow and short seat bases. Even my 5ft 10in 170lb frame I hated our 01 Jetta top trim 1.8T seats. They were terrible for thigh support and narrow at the shoulders.

Subaru Forester or Outback...Which one and why?

The 2010 and newer OB oddly enough is very popular with tall parents given its one of the rare mid sized vehicles a rear facing kids seat and a 6footer can fit in. I have a few buddies that bought it because it was the only midsized vehicle they tested that they actually fit in.

Subaru Forester or Outback...Which one and why?

The 3.6 is a totally different engine than the 3.0. The 3.0 they found it hot spotted under medium to heavy load, the fix was premium fuel only which luckily avoided pre ignition. But it was short on power and thirsty given its displacement. The 3.6 was a huge improvement on fuel consumption...

Subaru Forester or Outback...Which one and why?

Think of it this way Subaru builds 4 cars. The BRZ The Impreza The Legacy The Ascent The Forester is just a boxy body on an impreza The Outback is just a Wagon version of the Legacy Yes the last best Subaru is likely the very last 5spd AT H6 3.6L which was redesigned after the very lousy...

Subaru Forester or Outback...Which one and why?

Simple! Forester is a boxy Impreza. If your single and only need occasional seats for 4 and don’t need to haul gear for 4 then the 1500lb max tow and lower load rating Forester might be ok. If you haul 4 people and haul stuff for 4 people there is no comparison the OB is the best choice. I...

Power tool batteries as power source?

The power tool batteries are expensive for the wattage but for a quick flexable power source you probably already have its not a bad idea. Especially if there is a simple socket you can drop them into that then powers your small basick power needs

    Increasing Tacoma's GVWR

Mine was a late 06 basically 07 5 spd AT and juiced HP rating from Factory (premium fuel outside of low stress in town use) and push button 4x4. Still in the family my dad needed a new ride. He loves it. The power bump thing was odd Toyota upped the power but later they rolled it back probably...

    Increasing Tacoma's GVWR

My gen 1 Sequoia was near identical to the Sienna in interior size only it had 10inches ground clearance, 4x4 and the baby V8. Pretty much what you described wanting to do to the Sienna

    Which Overland Vehicle and Why?

Agreed it does sound like the next version based on the new Bronco will be very Life Style designed and probably more exciting to the American buyer. Tho I suspect load capacity will not get higher and will likely be lower with more performance/ trail capabilities focus.

What is the craziest recovery situation you made it through (or didn't make it through)?

My driver in the Serengeti said the same thing. He ran science/ research support in the winters and ran tours in the small season and summers. He said you only dig out a heavy rig a couple of times before you learn real quick they stay off the soft stuff. His winter rig is a light weight bare...

    Which Overland Vehicle and Why?

I also find with my local dealer that younger less experienced buyers are more attracted to the Ranger as a result dealers are playing the price game which results in higher prices. Not to mention like 1 ranger is built for every 15 F150’s so strictly from availability and basic pricing trends...

    2020 Ford Transit AWD

Blow by especially with turbo engines is highly dependent on use/operating conditions. I have no doubt most private owners operate their vehicles differently than work horse fleet trucks. I also think there is a service/durability reason Ford packaged the nonturbo 3.3v6 as a police/service...

    2020 Ford Transit AWD

I have a 2019 3.5 not at the least bit concerned and thats $83,000 check cut from my personal checking account. A neighbor around the corner with a 2014 3.5 and a BMW that got a walnut blasting job yeah it’s something he’s keeping an eye on and yes he put a catch can in. So far 60,000 miles in...

    2020 Ford Transit AWD

Three engineers told me the new Di engines Toyota BMW and Ford have breather designs that essentially do what the crude catch can concept did. So will you find crude catch cans strapped to the breathers? No will you find complicated setup designed to more less do the same thing? Yes

    Increasing Tacoma's GVWR

Camry and Sienna are the same platform. I recall the Camry has a 1000lb load rating. My 2010 Outback was like 930lbs the new 2020 Outback is over 1000 I think. The Sienna has something like 1200lb rating. The surprising one is the MB Metris that thing has a huge payload rating
