I use costco packs haven’t had any issues starting big v8’s. One thing tho they look for low voltage before they power up. I’ve had them simply not power up on dead flat batteries. But put a 9v battery on it and they power up.
They are all pretty much made the same exact way and come from china...
Weak point was the front end lots of guys blowing up the front suspension. Weight!!! Ford responded with a weight reduction via juiced up ecoboost. Weight is the biggest enemy to these consumer race trucks, shed weight and they gain durability.
This started in NY or DC can’t recall exactly about 2 yrs ago. A Judge and political peep got coal rolled by some idiot while out on a road bike ride. It resulted in a near immediate investigation into the Delete and mods market and lawsuits filed.
Since then the Feds and States have been...
Broken rear suspension arms which are Aluminum and under built just like the Sedans that have had broken rear suspension here in the states. They are OK for hauling 2-4 people and some light luggage. Once you go beyond that you’ll likely discover the rear suspension arms are built for a light...
I know one was built up as a chase vehicle for a cross dunes race in Africa and it was a total flop. The rear aluminum suspension broke stranding the chase vehicle. Same weak suspension parts on the factory X5’s and oddly the sedas had the same problems in the US city use.
Its a boxy car with...
Wow flash back big time!! My Uncle was a base Fire Captain and had one of these in his runway fleet. Like 1980’s. I remember riding in it as a kid , 12 miles into town to do the 4th of July parade with it. We put one of the well known crew in a full high heat foil suit/helmet and made him walk...
I know the Toyota taxi and Toyota service trucks typically get a new engine at 350k.
So I’d figure 50k of predictable reliability then who knows what can happen.
To be fair my 93 Land Cruiser got about the same mileage my dad got with his 1979 dodge long bed. My 2019 Expedition with 400hp has been returning a solid 18mpg in town and 21-22 mpg road trips. The LC got 11-12mpg not towing, and about 9mpg towing my 21ft 1600lb boat?♂️. My Subaru got 16mpg...
Great thread. I can see doing this in a few yrs when my kids are older and I have more me time. Have always been curious how this works and how people get involved.
If you need a utility vehicle you buy a used one a few yrs old for 1/2 price and use it. No one with any fiscal sense buys these expensive new trucks then thrashes them like old farm wagons.
Though lots of its not my money types borrow funny money ie cheap loans and trash them then cry when...
More like 80k
The old ones even last month were selling for 70k.
MSRP on my loaded 19 Expedition was $84,000. I paid $3250 below invoice which was roughly $12,000 off msrp. But that was with a week of negotiations and using a perks at work True car discount. I couldn’t get our local GM dealers...
To be fair most Truck guys who also travel those places know the risk especially pickup truck guys. Not all truck guys use their big truck on those types of dirt tracks. But they do put thousands of miles on them dragging dirt toys to those places. Which case the LTX tires are pretty much king...
Michelin has basically nailed the market on best traction tire options for nearly every vehicle when it comes to pavement. What most people don’t mention is its done mainly with softer rubber and smart tread design. That yes tends to wear out somewhat fast.
BFG quietly came out with what I...
