    portland diff shop

Leonard knows his stuff, but he also knows that he knows his stuff, if you know what I mean. His prices can be very steep but he should get it done right the first time.

    Extended vs. Crew cab?

Based on what you're saying, I would be looking for a 99-02 F250/F350 7.3L six speed 4x4 crew cab short bed, that has higher miles but is well maintained. The 4x4 diesel van will be very difficult to find. You are looking at a Sportsmobile most likely, but it will not fit into your price range...

    Extended vs. Crew cab?

If you want something smaller and more trail friendly, while still seating four comfortably and having a place to throw animals and gear.... This is my last truck when I lived in Oregon. It's an 05 Explorer Sport Trac 4x4, with a 3" lift, 33x12.50s, 4.88 gears, front and rear aussie lockers...

    Extended vs. Crew cab?

I'm not sure if you are referring to strictly 3/4 ton and up or half ton, but the back seat of my 2006 F150 SuperCrew is awesome. I'm 6', and with the front seats in a comfortable position for me, I still have extra leg room in the back seat. The angle of the seatback is comfortable as well. My...

    Automatic lockers

I feel like there is already a lot of mis-information in this thread regarding automatic lockers. From my experience, almost every person I've talked to on the internet who badmouths auto lockers or says they are unsafe or unpredictable has never had one. On my last truck (05 Explorer Sport...

I wouldn't mind having one of these in my garage!

    $6k dd/expo vehicle?

95-01 Explorer 4x4 with the 5.0L. They can be picked up for cheap now, good engine and transmission. Pull the AWD transfer case and swap in an old manual BW4406 transfer case, install aussie lockers front and rear and disconnect the sway bars off road. Build cheap/basic tube bumpers to help...

    NorthstarTC650-n-Tundra

I have tried emailing Carli a couple of times about fitment of long travel airbags to F150s and have never received a response. In all fairness, everyone has issues with spam/junk filters and I never picked up the phone. It wouldn't be difficult to fabricate something up anyway. I would be...

    Dark colored Four Wheel Camper?

Sure, but we aren't talking about huge panels. They would not be much bigger than what you find an a modern aluminum canopy. Plus the smoother siding would be easier to seal up and easier to clean I bet.

Is this the right locker for me?

I don't have a Jeep, but I had aussie lockers front and rear in my Sport Trac with 33s back in Oregon. The front end of the sport trac didn't have selectable hubs, so the driveline was always turning. - There is no feedback or binding in the steering wheel, whatsoever, in 2wd. The locker is...

    Dark colored Four Wheel Camper?

I would be much more interested in solid (straight) aluminum panels, rather than the old mobile home siding look, myself.

BenchMark Dual Battery Tray... et al

Ground them all the same. So long as the hot side of all the aux electronics and battery to do not cross with any on the main battery setup, they will remain isolated.

BenchMark Dual Battery Tray... et al

What are you using to separate the batteries? Isolator? relay? Generally it is good practice to install two new batteries if they are to be connected. The new one may only fully charge to the voltage that the old battery can handle, if that makes sense.

Ideas for Custom slide in truck Camper?

I believe four wheel campers just uses a thin aluminum skin. I have been drawing up pop-up ideas for a while, also with the idea of using 1x1" aluminum framing and a flat aluminum skin, but thick enough to not worry about dents and such. Someone will break a window or lock before they try to cut...

Mud TIRES: BFGoodrich KM2, Goodyear MTR Kevlar, or Swamper SSR

My experience with the km2s on ice have been great. Even on solid 1" ice that we got last winter. But my truck is heavy and they were fairly new. I do think one of mine may not be round. I have had a hell of a time with one of them and had it rebalanced several times. It still shakes at 45mph...

Mud TIRES: BFGoodrich KM2, Goodyear MTR Kevlar, or Swamper SSR

Thanks for the response about the MT/Rs. I haven't heard many negative reports from them before now. But different rigs and different terrain make a big difference. I love my KM2s as well, and also found them to work great in snow and ice. I have the same complaint as you (and many others)...

Four Wheel Popup Campers in Ford Broncos

Talk to Stan, user name Stan@FourWheel When I inquired about custom work (even something as simple as a 54" cabover instead of a 48") he told me that they can not do custom work as all of their plans have to go through some approval process through California or something.

    Ford Vrs Toyota course

I don't know, I work for a coal mining company and their trucks are driving off road all day every day. They don't use any Dodge trucks but they have Chevy, Totota and Ford trucks. While driving their tundras on washboard roads, they really do shimmy bad like that. Over 20 mph they get scary...
