    Hide power pole connector?

Have you considered a battery switch for them? I had a warn quick disconnect on my last truck and always worried about the same thing. It would be very easy for someone to short it out. I wasn't sure about a 150amp fuse, if it would blow when jumping or winching. I ended up keeping the connector...

    FWC & spare tire

Exactly. I use to carry a 33" spare on the roof of my last rig as it wouldn't fit underneath. Sure it was a bear to get up there. But if I would have damaged a tire, I could easily get it down, and the damaged tire could go somewhere else until repaired.

Would you post some updated pictures already?! :D I want to see how the 285/75 tires look, I'm wishing I had that size Toyo M/T instead of the 35x12.50 KM2s.

I didn't realize that you were in Louisville... The truck looks good. I'm also running the Bilstein 5100s on my '06 F150 with the fronts set at 2", with 3" rear blocks replacing the factory 2" block. Stock 18's with 35x12.50s, 4.56 gears, front and rear lockers. My Bilsteins only had the spring...

    Vw Vanagon to Westy?

What changed in 88? My syncro was an 86 and the electrical became a nightmare, but if I remember right it was also the first year of efi? I swapped ECUs, traced wiring, grounding straps, etc. I never could figure out the problem, it would just randomly shut off on me in the middle of a trip. 30...

    2010 f-150

Just pick up an E-locker, that's what I have in the front of mine. In that front diff you can also run an automatic locker (I don't recommend it) or a gear driven limited slip.

No kidding! That is a sweet truck! I wouldn't be adding a big old steel bumper up there either. If anything a basic tube bumper, or simple a hitch hidden behind the bumper and a removable winch platform. I have heard the same comment from a few people about the head rests, I just thought I...

From ringpinion.com This is pretty close to what yukon says, and what I've done the two times I've re-geared. Drive 15 miles, park and cool. Do that three times total. Drive "normally" (no wot starts) for 500 miles, no towing. Change gear oil. Of course I have some friends who install a ring...

    Vw Vanagon to Westy?

Yes, you'll find lots of write ups over there. It isn't that uncommon actually. If you've looked around a bit you'll know that there is a syncro versions that is 4x4 (awd). They are rare and can be spendy. A Syncro Westy is VERY rare and very expensive. So it is common for people to find a...

Replacement shocks for worn OE types

Bilsteins. I don't believe you'll find the 5100s as they are for lifted or leveled applications. Instead you'll find the HD bilsteins which work great on that platform. Ran them on my 98 Ranger for years. A little firmer than stock but comfortable and well controlled.

12k winch is definitely not overkill. I used a 9k lb warn on my sport trac and it strained sometimes. I would say 12k would be the minimum I would want on my F150. What are you using to fit the 35s? Spacers? Adjustable coil overs? Spacers are not the best idea on the newer F150s. Much more than...

You might be surprised. Throttle tip in is awesome now, the back end certainly kicks loose very easily. The first time I take it somewhere new for a service, I get comments from the tech that it just wants to jump off the line and they usually bark the 35s accidentally. Remember it's electronic...

The 5.4L tows great in stock form, in my opinion. My mom uses an 03 Expedition (older 2v 5.4L) with 3.73 gearing to tow a 25' four season arctic fox trailer around Oregon. I've pulled it over the mountain passes over 6k feet and kept 50-55mph no problem with three of us and plenty of stuff...

The trans is a 4R75. The worst mileage I've ever counted with my F150 was just over 10mpg on my last tank, 90% in town, very short trips, lots of idling, winter gas, etc. Typically I average 12-14mpg with mine. This is with 35x12.50s, 4.56 gears, 93 octane performance tune. With 3.73 gears the...

    Small Truck camper build

That looks like a fun project. I've been wanted to build my own camper for some time, but don't really have the space to work on it or the cash up front for materials and appliances. What are you going to cover the exterior with? I think I would run a thin liner inside of the frame, dow foil...

Welcome! I bet those kings are nice! I am running bilstein 5100s on my 06 fx4 set an 2" up front, 35x12.50 KM2s on stock wheels. No rubbing, works great, but only have about 2" of down travel up front from ride height. I may modify them to lower the front and inch if I don't lift the truck. I...

Need some ideas from clever fabricator types

I want to hear what you're planning for a new camper project! The Hawk isn't doing it for you any more? For what it's worth, if I ever pull the trigger and order the camper I'm currently looking at, I'm having them add support on the rear wall to hang a Yakima rack (or similar) to use for...

    LSD in the front end?

I agree with expeditionswest. But if you have friends with limited slip diffs in the front of their rigs, ask for some wheel time. This is obviously the best thing as everyone feels a little different about traction differentials up front, and responses normally vary wildly. I will say that...
