I asked and they said they will not do it at this point. Most new trucks have much largers cabs and it only makes sense to offer it, every other manufacturer seems to do it without a problem.
The layout is nothing new, aside from stuffing in a shower pan and cassette toilet. The small six-pac campers were setup that way for years, and many other manufacturers have done a similar layout. Im still waiting for fwc to offer a 60" cabover to get away from the obnoxious pull out bed...
On another note, I also had an 05 sport track recently. I added a 3" body lift, 15x8, 33x12.50s, 4.88 gears, front and rear aussie lockers and sway bar disconnects. It kicked *** on the trails and always blew the jeep guys away. I kept a full height spare in a roof basket and gear, tools and...
Another vote for 91-94 explorer. Solid rigs aside from the auto trans. Keep it geared low and cooled and it should be alright though. Ive owned a bunch of explorers and rangers (5 now?) , and they have been great. Recently I bought a super clean 94 explorer, though its a work vehicle that I...
There isn't much (anything?) Off the shelf like that. If it has to be used, you could modify a standard pop up camper by adding storage or something.
However all Terrain campers recently built a custom flatbed popup for the owner of wanderthewest.com
Coyote RV (phoenix campers) builds custom...
It sounds like you travel pretty light. Depending on the type of equipment you want in a camper, there are plenty of half tons that will work. Several of the new f150 trucks have a 7700lb payload with a crew cab 4x4, which often gives around 2000lb of payload. A four wheel camper hawk (or...
Do you have some interior pictures of that short bed camper?
I've drawn up a plan for a 6' pop-up for my supercrew that I've been meaning to talk to you about, and I'd be interested to see what that one looks like.
It must be a 5'6" floor length? 84-86" width?
Hopefully I'll get time back at...
Rob,
Are you going to be around the shop in the middle of November?
I will be moving a vehicle from Oregon to Louisiana and, depending on the weather, may pass right by you. I'd love to check out your campers in person. I'm realizing that the only way to get what I want is a custom built...
I have owned fiberglass caps with fold down front sliders, and some that didn't open at all. I'm anal about having clean windows so paying an extra $100 or whatever was totally worth it. I wouldn't order another one without it. Mine was also setup to be opened from the front (from the cab...
Right outside the door!
There is actually a dometic portable toilet in the cabinet under the couch. There is also an outside shower. No need for a big bathroom and holding tanks for what I'm doing.
I actually just got moved back to Oregon and couldn't be happier about it. The drive from...
I ordered it with two vent fans. It normally ships with just one vent, and it is the base model fantastic with white cover and white fan. Having two of them with smoked dome lids really makes it feel more open and light though.
I've insulated most everything that I intend to for now. I would...
When my camper was built, I had the manufacturer install extra support on the rear wall, passenger side. They used plywood behind the aluminum siding in a section. My intention, eventually, is to mount a roof rack with cross bars there. Bikes could use a fork mount on the top and hang that...
Unless you have a regular cab or a shorter extended cab, with a camper that has a north-south cabover bed, I wouldn't worry about it.
A little overhang is going to shade the cab, and also keep the water from pouring in your truck door when you open it.
You can see my truck with a crew cab...
I didn't want a long bed with this truck. The original plan was a fourwheel hawk and I wanted a short wheelbase off road. I don't need any more room for what I'm doing anyway, and so far stability isn't any problem whatsoever. Not to say it wouldnt be improved with a 6.5 bed... If I wanted a...
Well I still haven't had a chance to go anywhere, but it is just finally warming up. I'm saving my money to either move back to Oregon if I get a new job, or take a trip to the Outer Banks in May...
I've slept a couple of nights in it to test everything out. Quite a bit of insulation has been...
