    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Got me some shop time this evening in a buddies shop. So here we go with the fun.... This is the aftermarket brake light switch that is working with the TCM/TCC. You can see it is not lined up all that well to the pedal shaft. Here you can see both switches mounted, stock FJ80 on top. Wavy...

1964 Nissan Patrol soft top restoration

I have been working pretty steadily on this truck for the last month or so. I actually spent my 2013 New Years Eve working on this truck! :) Not logging a ton of hours but logging hours nearly every day. All kinds of things needed to be done to proceed with assembly. Had a handful of items...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Yup you are right on the money. One is definitely used for talking tot he TCM. Can't use a Chevy style switch, it is completely different than a post/pole type switch. Although I think it could be wired from a post pole switch, pass through the Chevy style and go out from there to the brake...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

BTW, my brake lights have been sticking on a lot lately. It first started when it was sub-zero so I just assumed it was cold grease on the MC piston. Well, recently I had my head up under the dash and saw that there is two brake light switches mounted to the pedal. It looks pretty jerry rigged...

Ya I would rather just buy a kit then make my own. Wiring is not something I enjoy a lot. I haven't decided which one. The 12v Guy kit is a little big for mounting, but a lot cheaper than the LROR. Cheers

Getting a bit tired of waiting for the inchworm e-locker kits to come in. Thinking I may just go with one of these soon. 12-volt Guy http://www.12voltguy.com/DUAL-E-LOCKER.html Low Range Off-road...

FJ80 or 3rd gen 4Runner. What would be a better expo truck?

Consider the GVW of each vehicle. Are you going to be loading the truck down with lot's of bolt ons and then filling it up with lots of camping/adventure gear? Seems to me 90+% of people forget about this very important and number one fact when considering or asking about "what truck?". A...

If given 40k cash tomorrow, what rig would you build or buy & where would u go?

I am counting all the little junk to install it plus exhaust, shifter linkages, intake and air box, ect ect ect, including consumables to fabricate mounts. :)

If given 40k cash tomorrow, what rig would you build or buy & where would u go?

Example #1: Buy rust free clean 80-series, only care about body, frame, axles and interior: $4000, less with a blown motor Buy junkyard 5.3L Chevy v8 and 4L60e trans, install it myself: $5000 Buy adapter kit and FJ60 split t-case, rebuild t-case: $2500 Kit out the truck, bumpers, sliders...

    Cruiser Therapy: LaOutbackTrail's FJ62 Landcruiser

My bad, I had forgotten your trailer build. I had the same feeling about my welds and strength. Then I had to make a jig/arbor to press a seized axle shaft on the Pinz out, not long after your stay here. 60-tons of force put on my welds to press the axle shaft out. They held. Then recently...

mods you wouldnt do again ...

Keep that Taco light, to heavy was why I got rid of mine! I think it is best to keep a light duty truck light. If you think you will get heavy, start with a platform that can take the weight. In particular in the frame, suspension, axles, trans & t-case departments. Cruiser 60/80 are great...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Thanks! Everybody I know who likes 80's should try driving one with a v8 in it. It is simply divine! :) Not as much snow here as we would like at all. Lacking actually. If I could sleep in the back of a dbl cab Taco, I think I can manage alright in an 80! ;) Cheers

    Cruiser Therapy: LaOutbackTrail's FJ62 Landcruiser

Yup that is right not SoA. SuA, MAF shackle reversal kit, OME heavies in rear, mediums in front, cut & turn on front axle, 35x12.5s on a 16" rim with 3.65" backspacing. Zero rub and flexed very well. That truck rode awesome, best riding leaf spring truck I have ever had or been in. Rode...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Well, rack this one up as a lesson learned. It would seem the vss was my problem. Two hundred mile drive yesterday, up and over the rockies and not a single problem. Keeping my fingers crossed for the next 500 miles I got to drive this week but I am fairly sure the issue I had can be checked off...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

This evening I installed a new VSS. In my application the VSS is located on the adapter between the trans and the split case. No need to drain trans. However, I *****, the VSS is sunk so deep into the adapter no room for a wrench/socket. I lucked out though as it was not tight, crescent wrench...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

I had/have an issue I posted about earlier in the thread, bit of rmp blip or surge. I was sure it was the leaking windshield gasket because it was doing it a ton in heavy rain. Seemed like the leak was dripping on the ECM behind the dash on the RHS. The reason I was sure this was it was because...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Thanks for your comments and info. I have not slept in it as I say so can't comment much but my buddy slept in his 80 a bunch, with his 5yr old kid too. So it should work for me no probs. Plus I plan to remove one of the rear seats, build a platform, ect. Keeping one seat for a 3rd person and...
