    Carbon60's HDJ81

Winch is Now Functional Completed and tested the winch install: A friend of mine has a nice hydraulic crimper which makes beautiful cables. Man, does it still take forever to get them all done!

    Trekboxx drawer systems update

I'm looking forward to hearing about an 80 series product, since I now own the HDJ81 that I'll be driving for the next decade or more.

    Carbon60's HDJ81

Fabricated a small bracket to mount the winch controller (a Warrior Winch C8000EWX) over the drum, off set so as to be able to see it. Made all new connection cables, and connected to the battery through a Blue Sea switch. Why do such projects always take so friggin long?! Also replaced the...

    Carbon60's HDJ81

I weighed the truck stock and empty, and I intend to weigh it again at its full "travel" weight. Then purchase appropriate OME coils. After that, I will move my Nitrocharger Sport struts, steering damper, and castor corrected control arms from my FZJ80. A.

    Carbon60's HDJ81

Sorry! It drives very nice… Why did you think the front seals needed to be done? In order news, I got the bumpers swapped between my old and new rigs: Next is the wiring for the winch.

    Carbon60's HDJ81

I just purchased a 1994 HDJ81 with 188K on the odometer and no lockers (or rust!). I started a thread on Mud, where I'll keep most of the truck-related technical stuff. I'll be putting the fit-up stuff in here. The current todo list looks like this: Do all the important technical stuff I...

    HEMA Explorer North America

A key feature that would blow everything else out of the water is an easy way to import very large datasets like massive Shapefiles, sets of GeoTIFF tiles, etc. I find myself using non-shareable data a lot.

    HEMA Explorer North America

Does anyone have confirmation that Hema just bought a point-in-time copy of Gaia's code and is going to be developing on separate paths?

Yeah, it's the same app as Gaia:

    Recovery strap nearly decapitates cameraman

The ad I got on that video was excellent: CM rigging. Of course, CM would need to make rear bumpers, apparently… A.

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

I would assume, without any actual experience, that they would perform poorly on hard packed snow and ice. This is the reason I chose Duratracs, and they have worked out very well for me in the winter. A.

    Hardigg cases

The fuel cans are a little odd, not the usual Sceptre ones. What are they? They look like water cans, actually.

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

Are they winter rated? I thought not.

    SPOT Gen3 satellite tracker

Couldn't agree more! :iagree: I've had an InReach for years with 100% reliability. And I've used two-way messaging twice in situations that did not warrant an SOS call, but that were serious and required assistance from the outside. A.

    Back-Up Light Question

Makes sense. I'll harass him into doing that. :) Also, if you want a switch in the cab and another in the cargo area to be able to use the lights as camp lites, how would that be wired?

    Need input on battery charger

Link to the Minn Kota, since I'd never heard of them: http://www.minnkotamotors.com/Battery-Chargers/On-Board-Chargers/Precision-Chargers/ Also, have you looked at CTEK? I rather like their products, though I have a Noco Genius at the moment. A.

    Back-Up Light Question

If one wants to avoid the "flash" that happens when shifting some automatic transmissions past R on the way from P to D, is there a solution? I ask because a good friend of mine, who I often end up driving behind on the trail, flashes a rather large LED bar _everytime_ he puts the rig into gear.

Battery post connector for multiple wires?

I have seen it discussed that it may be better *not* to cover the connections with heat shrink as it does not offer much benefit and obscures possible corrosion issues. I ran into this when a cable came out of its connector on my rig, a cable that was there when I purchased. I may have noticed...

To be clear, the above gentleman is not referring to pictures of the aforementioned testing. :)
