    Heh, yeah. I guess I probably misused the word in my post: your winch is way stronger with less layers of cable wrapped up.

    I use an 8000 lbs winch on a 7000 lb truck. Works great. I only use a snatch block when I feel there is resistance. Remember that your winch is way stronger with one wrap on the drum than with 3 or 4.

    I carry a 20' chain to use for clearing trees and as backup winch with the Hi-Lift. I also carry a special chain choker/slip hook: Works very well. I found that you need something to get the chain to cinch down. I then either pull with the truck or winch, depending on where things are...

    I think that is probably a great solution. Still, I don't feel it for stopping on the roadside for coffee. I also like the idea of a simple extension from the hatch itself, just to make it a tough longer, and maybe wrap down on the sides.

    How well does that work, in practice? Since I just switched from a gasser to a diesel (FZJ80->HDJ81), I want to switch my cooking to diesel as well, if it works well. I'd love to see some photos and commentary!
