Thanks, really love it and hate to see it go!
It has the 3.73, and came with factory 34” tires, so the 37’s actually do great- especially with tow mode engaged. Bear in mind I occasionally tow a Defender on a car trailer, so around 8-9k, and no issues even in the mountains. Sadly, the only...
After having a rod placed in my neck and back last year, and now a hip replaced, I just don't use this truck much at all- sadly!! Zero issues, has lifetime powertrain warranty via Ford dealer, but I do not think it is transferable- but obviously attest to it's longevity. Excellent maintenance...
Well, I've had a few VWs, most fun being the V-10 Tdi Touareg! But alas, just bought a new Atlas with 1.5" lift and 265/65-18 Toyos- should be a fun rig...
You owe it to yourself to explore the Ostrich Wing carried by Rugged Bound Support Team (EP vendor). Saw one at a Rover event in high winds and it was amazing- very strong/substantial, and it has sides if so inclined...
My Dad was a welder, and after decades of refining synapse response, he could grab a hot piece of metal to move it, albeit very quickly. People would inevitably ask if it wasn't hot, to which he always replied "It is- I just didn't need to look at it very long"....
Odd (not bad) that it has electric 4x4 selection with the manual tranny. I had the 6 speed in an '99 Lariat 7.3 and it had manual 4x4.
GLWS- curious what you are replacing it with?
At sea level, not a problem- at 10,000’, maybe a little asthmatic- but still doable and safe being well within load parameters.
I’ve hauled Defenders all over the east coast crossing the mountains without issue. But crossing Vail pass at over 10k there was a very slight reduction in power...
This has been discussed at length on other threads. No sense not going to the 350 -IF you can find one... I have the 350 CCSB w/ 6.2, and well kitted -including Icon 2” stage 4, so it rides pretty decent loaded or empty, and very seldom encroach on max capacity. Conversely, the 250 can get to...
X2 on this- I have confirmed the insurance companies will insure it at 35% less than market value having salvage title. No problem, but reality. Also as stated above- please post price...
Well, I DD my 150 w/ 5.0 (also not a fan of Ecoboost) 4x4, locker, 36 gal tank, HD payload, etc and it is very comfortable and decent tow rig under 8k. By contrast I have the 6.2 F-350 4x4 w/ Icon 2” stage 4, and it is a great tow rig!
For your application, having the FWC and possibly towing...
