Thanks. Explosions from the impact shouldn't be any worse than any other compressed gas, so my bigger concern for an accident would be a spark that catches fire. As for the inside, propane tanks can leak or vent gas on very hot days, so if it does leak then I have propane filling up my vehicle...
I don't have the exact measurements, but there is space on the sides, how much I don't know. The wife, me and the 2 year old all fit. It was tight but workable, next time I have it open I will measure it.
So I don't like the idea of caring the propane in my Jeep, so I decided to fab something up for outside carry.
I bought a used rugged ridge Off-Road Jack Mount, 07-10 Wrangler, Textured Black 11586.01, cut off the top brackets, and then got a 4x4 and a 1" piece of wood to set in where the jack...
I bought the camp chef and then bolted a grill on top (took the grill from from a walmart camp cooking tripod). Benefit was great price and instead of ceramic logs it has lava rocks, so I cook on it and then throw out the rocks when they get too messy.
For the most part Florida does not have very strict rules for vehicle conversions and registration (no smog checks or vehicle checks as long as you have the appropriate paperwork), so if he already had a tag he probably doesn't need to do anything else.
For the habitat the have said ~100lbs more than a normal hard top and I would say based off of design that is about the same for the J30 (hardtops are ~130 (95lbs back+30 freedom panels). AT's website says 220lbs total for the Habitat/J180. Cargo capacity is the same as with a hardtop, there...
Pros:
- Tent is always there
- does not affect gas mileage (best I can tell),
- do not have to store tent,
- if it is pouring rain I can literally stick my hand out the window, undo latch, pop it up from the inside and climb in
- I am able to use the interior space of the vehicle in...
I have a CRD Liberty. I am pretty sure they are the same engine maybe with slight changes. You can get parts, there are some that are hard to get like turbos but there are enough Liberty's in the system do generate a demand. Try this website for help...
I had one, worked great. Did not have any issues with it and it seemed well built. Stood up to high winds in grand canyon with no issues, I only got rid of it so I can get a FLIPPAC. Got it from http://www.car-top-tent.com/, customer service was exceptional
I have the vector offroad. It is a good table and the feature to hang molle bags off of it is why I went that route . It use nutserts for the bolts so make sure you have the right tool (the one they try to sell you sucks). I ended up having to use a different method than the nutserts to get...
