    Is my Jeep too heavy?

Yes - time for a HEMI swap! ;) There’s no better solution for Too Many Upgrades than More Upgrades. In seriousness though, I am surprised at how well my JKU has handled the weight. I’m sure that will decline rapidly with age and miles. Just got back from a glorious week-long safari through the...

    Is my Jeep too heavy?

Yep - it adds up quick. 35" wheels, AEV bumpers, winch, dual batteries, rock sliders, skid plating, roof rack, windshield light bar, recovery gear . . . Hopefully this thread is a great resource to others who are considering upgrades and armor for their vehicles. Lots to think about!

    Is my Jeep too heavy?

By the way, I now realize I made a big mistake with my weight tests of the trailer. I forgot to put the 35" spare wheel back on! It gets mounted on the tongue. I took it off shortly after delivery of the trailer because it appeared to make the tongue weight WAY too high. Now I need to go...

    Is my Jeep too heavy?

Ha! Congratulations on your OGT Expedition 2.0! The good news is that in my (humble and biased) opinion, you bought the best off-road trailer available today. I did weeks of research, and made the same decision you did. The bad news is that I'm sure you are discovering the same list of 149...

    Is my Jeep too heavy?

Yes - I am super impressed with the scales. I didn't even read the user manual. Just popped in the batteries and everything was ready to go. No sync, no calibration, no setup needed. Plus, the whole kit comes in a really well-designed transport case with wheels and a retractable handle...

    Is my Jeep too heavy?

I now have a wireless scale system so I can more carefully calibrate different configurations for my Jeep and trailer. Here are the results so far. The Jeep has exactly half a tank of gas, and the only cargo items are the tools and recovery equipment that live in the vehicle full time (plus...

Official Test Results: Five Ways to Heat a Tent

I also have a Hilleberg Atko 1-person tent, which is great in the snow. It's actually two tents - an inner tent and outer tarp, which helps a lot with the condensation challenge. But it's 1.5 pounds heavier than the simple tarp. I've learned that hiking in deep snow up into the mountains...

Official Test Results: Five Ways to Heat a Tent

I put the roof top tent and tipi tent in storage last year and am now doing a lot of ultra-light backpacking in the mountains instead. Using a trick discussed earlier in this thread, I lit two single-candle lanterns under a tarp shelter in the snow to see if that would cut down on condensation...

Barn Door for JK factory hardtops

Heading into the Maine North Woods next week! Got my cellular boost antenna mounted (yes, a 200% boost of zero is still zero, I know). With my MORryde fuel can brackets! And of course my favorite adventure shirt.

Can I connect the new Dometic PLB40 to a YellowTop?

Response on Dometic website (as expected): Hey Matt - You can charge the PLB40 with the included AC or DC power adapter, but you will experience a loss in power efficiency when converting the DC power from your vehicle to AC. It would be most efficient to charge the PLB40 with DC power when...

Can I connect the new Dometic PLB40 to a YellowTop?

Right. No point putting the PLB40 in the trailer with the inverter. Just put it on the floor of the tow vehicle and charge it off the cigarette socket. Leave the AC charging adapter at home.

Can I connect the new Dometic PLB40 to a YellowTop?

Yep - that was the photo and question in my original post back on page 1. Originally I wanted to plug it into the deep cycle yellowtop battery that is the auxillary in my Genesis dual battery system. But it seems like the better idea is to charge it from the cigarette socket that is powered by...

JKU suspension upgrade needed - Opinions Welcome

Nice! I installed a brake controller and am towing an Off-Grid Expedition 2.0 with mine. The rear suspension really handles the tongue weight very well.

Can I connect the new Dometic PLB40 to a YellowTop?

Very impressive FAQ and questions/answers list at the link below. I submitted my question regarding charging from an inverter, since it hasn't been asked yet. Will post any response here. https://shop.dometic.com/store/dometic/en_US/pd/productID.5284991700

Can I connect the new Dometic PLB40 to a YellowTop?

Thanks - certainly a lot of solar array advice on the ExPo, so I'll do the research. I'm simply planning to plug the AC charging adapter of the PLB40 into the 1750W modified sine wave inverter that is in the trailer. But only while the two vehicle is running.
