    Delwood - my 1995 F250 build

Hey y'all! Wanted to share and document the beginning of my new adventure mobile build, a 1995 F250 7.3L turbo diesel, and how it evolves over the next few years. For the past 4 years I've been traveling in a 1987 FJ60, I have a pretty long build thread over on ih8mud. I loved stomping around...

    James Baroud tent failure?

It's been a few moons since I've posted but I wanted to swing back through with another James Baroud / OK 4WD update....and I wish it was good news. We've been to some rad places (like Big Bend below!) but back in June I submitted a warranty claim with my 2nd James Baroud roof top tent. This...

    James Baroud tent failure?

Very true, I did in fact throw down another $3000 for a James Baroud tent mostly because I was out of house for 2 months for the whole process. And I do believe JB has the best 'design' of roof top tents currently. But from the start your customer service was....far from ideal. Yet I have no...

    James Baroud tent failure?

After weeks of waiting I finally heard back from James Baroud USA in NJ: my warranty claim was denied It is what it is. I didn't strike anything and I felt the gel coat was starting to separate because of a manufacturing issue, but they felt otherwise, even though there is still no empirical...

    James Baroud tent failure?

Right on, glad to hear from y'all on the forum, I'm sure only good things will come from all this. But what's still most disappointing is y'alls first response was a flat out and simple denial of my warranty claim. It wasn't one of wanting to research it more or see more photos or even have me...

    James Baroud tent failure?

I haven't posted any "rude language, threats, rants or outright slander" so I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to? I've only posted facts in a fair and honest way. I have a tent that has failed under normal use and there is a company that denied that claim and wasn't interested in...

    James Baroud tent failure?

I submitted the photos to James Baroud and weeks later they denied my claim and were not interested in seeing the tent in person. That's the simple facts of my story. It was only after I started publishing more info online did they change their tune and were interested in inspecting the tent in...

    James Baroud tent failure?

Right on, def will you keep ya posted But what does need to change is OK4WD has to setup some sort of warranty system, they can't simply put it on the customer and say it's a problem for HQ down in South America....that's defeating the whole point of them being "James Baroud USA" so that you...

    James Baroud tent failure?

I've been following the factory closing procedures that I was given at James Baround USA / OK4WD when I bought my tent, which is closing the front corners one at a time using the pull strap and pushing inward. Pushing in the middle of a tent would be nearly impossible with the tent installed on...

    James Baroud tent failure?

I'm less worried about the hooks than I am with James Baroud USA's customer service. I think them getting to put their hands up in the air and pass it off to HQ down in South America isn't right and sets a bad precedent if/when more customers start having issues in the coming years. But I do...

    James Baroud tent failure?

Hm. Nothing has ever been closed inside the tent expect for a sleeping bag? There is 0 damage or makings inside the tent. I purchased the tent directly from OK 4WD in person.

    James Baroud tent failure?

Interesting to hear....James Baroud never contacted me about an aluminum replacement? I only heard through the grape vine. This is the second ladder that has broken on me....they replaced my first one with another plastic model that just broke again today. But nonetheless, I'm deeply...

    James Baroud tent failure?

Here's another quality issue to me, albeit minor.....the finish on the latches def isn't holding up well

    James Baroud tent failure?

Crazy enough I went out to take photos inside the tent and the plastic hooks that hold the ladder to the tent both broke off. I busted my butt a little bit and scratched the roof of my truck....actually this is the second ladder that has broke on me. Apparently it is a known flaw with James...

    James Baroud tent failure?

I think you're onto something! I have been opening and closing my tent every single day for 6+ months now, sometimes twice a day. And when you go to close solo you have to push + pull down on the corners to properly shut the tent....I think that is putting heavy stress on the lid.

    James Baroud tent failure?

I hear ya...but only thing I can say to that is that I haven't hit anything and there's no indentation on the inside or outside where such a heavy strike would have happened. I've owned every scratch and dent on my rig and I would be doing the same if it were the case with my tent ya know. I do...

    James Baroud tent failure?

I have a fairly long build thread over on ih8mud but my recent experience with James Baroud USA tents has been so disappointing I figured it was worth sharing over here My quick long term summary of my James Baroud roof top tent: it's a very risky buy + they have poor customer service and...
