Grand Canyon: Tapeats, Deer and Kanab Creeks - FAIL

Yup, agree. This option, unfortunately, is a major PITA. The other option is to hike after a major rain storm, and collect rain water from puddles. This too is a major PITA. Neither option is easy. But, the gems are on the list.

Grand Canyon: Tapeats, Deer and Kanab Creeks - FAIL

You will have a fantastic time! I love, LOVE, the Tonto Trail. The solitude and vistas are it's primary charms. It is hard; but, except for the occasional wash/drainage, the trail is neither brutal nor hard to follow. The problem with the Tonto is the lack of water. I so want to do the...

Grand Canyon: Tapeats, Deer and Kanab Creeks - FAIL

Yeah, 100% agree on the surgery. I suppose it's like anything else, buy once cry once. Do it right the first time. Have you done the Grandview-Tonto-BA route before? I completed it with my buddy (same guy as above) in 2009. A couple of thoughts if you don't mind: - We spent our first night on...

Grand Canyon: Tapeats, Deer and Kanab Creeks - FAIL

We did consider the option you describe: return north via Tapeats Creek and Thunder River to Surprise Valley and the Deer Creek trail junction. In fact, the morning of Day 2, a fellow camper strongly recommended this option as well. We opted against a backtrack (partial) via Surprise as we...

    Oil cooler housing part number?

Very interesting. Thanks for the follow-up. The mystery deepens. I believe the original factory part did have MOPAR labelling.

Grand Canyon: Tapeats, Deer and Kanab Creeks - FAIL

@shade Oops. Somehow, I missed your post until today. Not sure how it didn't come up on my alert page. Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated! I was pretty hard on myself after the accident, but have come to recognize that both you and @jgaz have the correct perspective here. The debate...

    Oil cooler housing part number?

Good luck! Yup. I submitted a review noting disappointment too. Completely OT: Amazon has to do better with unscrupulous vendors. Too much of this crap.

    Oil cooler housing part number?

YW. Note this the reviews on this Amazon link: Mopar Engine Oil Filter Adapter W/ 3.6L V6 Engine https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BPRZ43O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_wNCRDb89C6T93 Some people have posted pictures of a part WITHOUT the MOPAR TM. I have such a part. I will send a picture when I can. I...

    Oil cooler housing part number?

FWIW, AFAIK, the latest greatest is 618...AF. Are you sure you installed MOPAR original? There is some internet chatter about low quality third-party versions marketed as MOPAR original. And, looks like I too have a fake part marketed as a MOPAR. I can send a picture if you like.

Thank you! And, you are 100% correct. Life is risky; adventure is even more risky.

Grand Canyon: Tapeats, Deer and Kanab Creeks - FAIL

Day 2 started at sunrise. Noticing that other groups were up and about, I went of in search of a USB C cable and more importantly trail intel. With regard to the former, I bet my buddy $20 that someone in the canyon would have spare cable. His response: you are a **************. Trail intel was a far...

Grand Canyon: Tapeats, Deer and Kanab Creeks - FAIL

The Outcome: NPS Medevac on Day 2 from on the shelf section of the Colorado River trail between Tapeats Creek and Deer Creek after I suffered an ankle injury. The Story: On the early morning of Day 1, we drove from the North Rim Lodge to the Indian Hollow Trailhead via FR's 22, 425 and 232...

Thanks! Forest fires were ablaze on the North Rim. There was a strong smell of smoke at our campsite astride (literally feet from the water) Tapeats Creek.

This is the thing, 5 letters: water I don't worry about the apocalypse, zombies, pandemics, vampires, clowns, whathaveyou, despite a voracious appetite for such fiction, but here in SE AZ I do worry about disruption of water distribution. Water filters, purification tablets, and life-straws...

6 Family EMP Proof 36-38' Expedition Rig

One Second After was entertaining and interesting. Entertaining in the same sense of the Road (McCarthy). Yeah, I like the genre. Anyhow, unfortunately, Fortschen lost his magic touch with the sequel, One Day After. But, his thoughts on an EMP based disaster make for a good read...

Beyond the Truck: Grand Canyon Solitaire

I figure that the River Trail, for those who don't know better, means access to the river, which means water. Hey, what's a little giarda ... IIRC, there was a fatality in that area not so long ago. Indeed. That is crazy fast.
