I used 3M spray adhesive when I did the carpet in my Wagoneer. Never tried using carpet tape because, well, it never occurred to me. :)

Dual compressor mounts were pretty common for the Jeep series for just this reason. I'd really look into that vs the discussed alternative.

You might not need as much space as you'd think. I believe most folks are thinking hanging space with the idea of tree straps attached to each end of your hammock. In this case you'd need that 10'+ of linear space in order to get the proper droop, along with having to make your attachments...
