Transporting Diesel in Jerry Cans Under Truck Canopy?

Diesel is pretty stable I wouldnt worry about it lashed down in the bed under the cap. Though it will make a mess if you spring a leak. So good cans lashed down solid is fine. Gas on the other hand creates highly flamable vapor I wouldnt ever do a under cap gas can.

    Camping vs Emergency equipment

The family meet up spot is tricky. The one we had a few yrs ago is useless today due to traffic congestion vs a few yrs ago. I think this is really the hardest thing

    Camping vs Emergency equipment

My Michigan family put a big natural gas fired generator on the house after three weeks with no power. They skipped the gasoline fired generators because neighbors couldnt get enough gas to keep them running, only a few gas stations could pump gas and they were swamped and ran out. So utilty fed...

    Camping vs Emergency equipment

Same here each region will have slightly different disaster supplies needs. West Coast types wont really have big problems with cold temps for the most part, nor will we have disasters extending 100's of miles they will be very localized. The biggest threat being fire, so having a quick GTFO kit...

Is the GX built on a similar 25 yr platform as the LX and Land Cruiser?

The power delivery thing is something I noticed as well. The LX has a mild throttle response actually very mild after having the Sequoia with the 4.7. The GX is smaller lighter but still has a pretty gental tune persay. The Sequoia and the Tundra running the same V8 interestingly got a pretty...

    Camping vs Emergency equipment

Regarding the riots my dad had two students arrested in his class room two weeks after the riots 600 miles away sitting in Biology class. Seems both families rented a Uhaul together and went down to LA to um go shopping during the riots. You never hear about looters being picked up later, but...

    Camping vs Emergency equipment

In those days and in that area all the houses were hard targets. LOL even today they all sport barred windows and doors. If you live in an area like that and are viewed as an outsider a gun wont save your stuff.

Is the GX built on a similar 25 yr platform as the LX and Land Cruiser?

I had a J80 for 8 yrs. I looked at the GX some while looking for a more modern replacement. The LC is wide like nearly full size wide, which translated to being dramatically better on the high speed tarmac, narrow goat trails favor the GX far better. My old 4runner was basically the same width...

    Camping vs Emergency equipment

In CA lived here my whole life the most common issue youll encounter is having to leave your house in 15minutes. AKA wild fire tearing through your neighborhood. You can have all the gear you can dream up, but only have enough time to grab the dog, a pair of shoes and your evac bag containing...

    Camping vs Emergency equipment

Keep in mind shakey ground tends to be very localized unlike Harvey or Irma hundreds of miles across and moving adding more distance and potential blockages for the regular truck deliverys to transit. If a really big one hits LA there are massive wearhouses stock full of goods all part of the...

Is the GX built on a similar 25 yr platform as the LX and Land Cruiser?

LCs or any decent vehicle are easily 25yr vehicles with the right driver and low salt environment. Figure out what your weights and interests are, then target vehicles that fit that.

Is the GX built on a similar 25 yr platform as the LX and Land Cruiser?

The 25yr thing is pretty entertaining surly coined by a maketing wizard. The only thing that really seems to always bubble to the surface is load carrying ability. The 4runner or GX arent large vehicles so if your dreaming of 1000lbs of tires, skid plates, winches, bumpers, fridge, drawers and...

    Camping vs Emergency equipment

LoL If your assests apear to be soo great you need a gun? You would need an army to fire more than just one gun. Best defence against looting is simply not parading around your assets like a cocktail waitress looking for tips. If an angry mob wants your junk a gun wont stop em.

    Camping vs Emergency equipment

Im in Northern CA I suspected Im older only by a few years. The concern of getting to family is the biggest issue. That and having basics enough for everyone for a week or so. Which isnt difficult to sort out if you've camped for a week with no food runs to the grocery store. Think about the...

Interesting but also seems to fit the owner feed back so far. Its awesome to see GM finally playing ball and hopefully listening to the consumer. These trucks coming off the show room floor are impressive.

All Fiberglass Camper Shell Experience - Failures or Successes?

The only thing that matters is how its built. Fridge vs. cooler for basecamp-style travel

We do a 6-9 day trip every summer. Pending temps I get 3-4 days easy out of a frozen 1gall milk jug poor mans Ice block in the old Colman ice chest. Then we get a block of ice. I wont be going fridge route till we are doing more trips, currently 3-4 a yr is all we do.
