Modifying Awning Mounts? Help me, ExPo engineers.

Hmmmm do you have a picture showing what you're talking about? I apologize, but I'm a visual learner. I also don't read very well. This looks like an interesting solution, although it would mean I blew some money on the fourtreks mounts (not cheap).

Modifying Awning Mounts? Help me, ExPo engineers.

So I've been using these Fourtreks awning mounts to secure my ARB awning to the Xterra roof rail. My problem is that, when mounted, the awning being this close to the roof rack prevents me from mounting my Yakima cross bars. I mount my RTT, kayak, and the lifeless bodies of my enemies to the...

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

I'm assuming you mean through the routes to access the beach, itself? There's plenty. There isn't a very thick layer of dunes separating the major roadways from the "beach highway", and they're all clearly marked. I accessed the beach for my drive down at the very northwestern most tip of Oregon...

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

How much time do you have on your hands outside of the 5 days at Cannon? That'll affect my recommendations :-) As far as the 90 vs the 84, you'll have to worry less about the 84 closing unpredictably due to weather if you're worried about that. Doesn't get hit by the white stuff as hard...

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

Yeah, you have to do it. The Hall of Mosses is simply amazing, no other way to describe it. If you're going to head out there, you might as well hit Neah Bay at the same time (the most Northwestern point of the continental United States). Here's a couple photos from the cabin we rented at Neah...

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

Yeah, they seem like great tires thus far. I picked up the rectangular snorkel head on eBay for $20 or something like that. I just wasn't a fan of the big oval that comes with the airflow snorkels. It was a cheap, easy swap.

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

I haven't updated this thread very much in the past couple of months, as I've been out of town for work quite a bit. However, as the weather starts to improve here in the PNW, I'll begin repopulating this baby with trip reports. My recent focus with the X has been regular maintenance. In the...

    Thinking about a new Frontier......but.....

I have a '14 Xterra Pro-4x nearing 56k miles. The only issues I've had (that weren't self-imposed) are a broken front sway bar link and a squeaky belt. Both were replaced under warranty. I've since removed the front sway bar and the belt or tensioner is now squeaking again on cold days...

07BlackSpecV's Junior Overland 2008 Nissan Xterra

You know, they work better when they're mounted on your vehicle. Just a friendly FYI. Those look awesome! I sometimes kick myself for not getting the white knuckles with the kick out.

    Frontier lift blocks or shackles?

A recent thread over on thenewx.org has documented some engineering flaws with the Nisstec shackles, although nothing catastrophic. Basically, they're too wide for OEM leafs and bushings, causing bushing issues. This may be an issue isolated to a select run of the product, or it may be something...

My New Build: 1990 3-Door Nissan Patrol, 4.2, Diesel

I like the look of the yellow hood better. Not to say the black hood looks bad, persay, but the Shorty just has such a classic vibe to it that I think the paint-matched hood fits it better. Also, great work with the recent trip videos. Very good production and the terrain definitely made me...

    2014 Xterra Pro-4x

They did indeed fix the timing chain issue, as well as the coolant/transmission fluid issue that plagued the early 2nd Gens. Bump, and GLWS.

    Nissan Frontier Front suspension

Yes, the Titan swap is the only existing option for Frontier/Xterra guys to get decent amounts of travel out of our IFS design. It's extremely popular because it's (relatively) affordable, parts are easy to come by, and it's a "home-brewed" solution as opposed to something that would need to be...

    DMSKI's 2006 Xterra

I also went with the 1250. It is narrow, but works for its intended purpose. It's much easier to handle than the standard 6ft awnings when I'm out by myself. Also, I saw you asked about how I mounted it over on thenewX. I researched different options, but in the end I invested in a set of...

"Lola" - WreckDiver1321's 2005 Frontier CC/SB Nismo Build and Adventure Thread

You're absolutely right, I should have known better:ylsmoke: 4 HI driving is the only reason I haven't installed a Lokka yet. Too many variables. Although, I few long term reviews over on theNewX lead me to believe that it's not as bad some people make it out to be. The consensus is that under...

"Lola" - WreckDiver1321's 2005 Frontier CC/SB Nismo Build and Adventure Thread

Gahhhhh I'm constantly worrying about my front diff, especially in the snow. I've strongly been considering the Lokka, but I had no idea you could find the V8 Pathy CVs for the M205 that cheap. Decisions, decisions..... Also, please post pictures when you get the M205 installed :-)

Nice! What size did you go with? I recently picked up an ARB awning, myself.
