Dual 6 volt batteries for starting

I have not used this set up for automotive applications, but in installed two banks of 2X6V GC Deka AGMs in my Airstream. Tossed the two way fridge and went 12V. Great AH performance, fast recharge. No troubles in three years. The problem is the height and weight of these batteries... 1 bank...

The Maggiolina and Columbus shells built with a polyester resin formulated to flex under loads and impact and bounce back. There are limits, but many customers report that they have sustained minimal (cosmetic) damage from collisions.

Toyota releases extra tough Land Cruiser GX for Australia

"Land Cruiser GX is packed with an auxiliary fuel tank for traversing the open wastes, plenty of under-body protection and an honest-to-goodness metal key. A 4.5-liter twin-turbo V8 diesel engine sits at the heart of this beast of burden coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with...

Ford 7.3 mileage, pure highway.. experience?

I have a stock 2001 F350 CC short bed with automatic, 285/75 Toyo M55s and 3:73 gearing. I regularly get 18.5 to 19 MPG on the highway. This was measured at various speeds, temps, terrain. In the high mountains it drops off a bit.

    Extension cords and generators

For about the price of a Honda 2000i generator you can buy a very good 6.9 CF 12V fridge that draws about 2.5 amps per hour. This will run off a single 12V batt that can be recharged while drving, by solar, by plugging a charger into a 110 AC source. Something to consider.

RTT Orientation and position on truck with cap?

Usually, I prefer to mount a tent to the rear of the vehicle roof. This will improve the aerodynamics by putting the tent into the slipstream created by the windshield of the truck, and also allow ease in opening and deploying the tent at the rear. I do not like the 'open over the hood' option...

    ford question

I owned an '83 F250 (6.9L) for years. Awesome truck with nearly zero problems. A couple of years ago I went through the same search you are now doing. I opted for an '01 F350 7.3L with 65K miles. These low mileage, later model 7.3s bring a price premium, but this is a far better truck than a...

    Windows tablet and software

I have restarted my search for a medium sized tablet running windows (NOT VIsta), software providing highway turn-by-turn, and mapping software for use in the boonies. I need to get e-mail and web access - via Verizon skycard - on the road so I prefer Windows, and I want to move the unit...

    Autohome Customer Service Concerns...

We do have these in stock --- seems like people do misplace them. They are usually stored under the mattress on the side opposite the ladder and some people do not locate them - they don't always read the instructions. Call me with shipping address and we will send one via UPS. M

    FZJ/FJ 80 Help please?

I have owned (and driven the snot out of) an FJ40, an FJ60, and now an FZJ80. I have driven Landcruisers since 1972. I loved all these vehicles, but like the 80 best for pure reliability, power, and off-highway capability. IIWY, I'd get a 93-97 FZJ80 as a travel platform. Only downstroke with...

Frame mounted vs. interior mounted battery?

As stated, if you use an interior mount do use a sealed AGM battery. If exterior mounted, use a battery box to protect the battery from road crud.

2 Batteries and a 2 bank charger question

I have used the same charger on two wet cell marine batteries. They were isolated and the charge worked fine - just make sure you isolate the two batts with the marine switch turned to OFF and that the charge leads are connected directly to each battery.

    Scopes

In 40+ years of North American big game hunting under some terrible conditions, I have never had a Leupold fog up, break. leak, of fail in any way. All my rifles now wear Leupold scopes. I know many experienced hunters who will use nothing but a Leupold.
