There is a bit of variance in width when it comes to the 285/75x16 tyre range.....I see via the manufacturers that the MTZ is a norrower 285 at 11.3 inches, the Maxxis Bighorns are 11.6 inches and my Silverstones are in reality almost 12 inches wide(even thou their website states 11.3) I know...

These tyres, just to note, are on the smaller size in each size....for example, a 285 is 32.6 diameter whereas most other 285's are 32.9/33.1 diamter.

yes, australia is full of them.....2.4 or 2.8 diesel extra cab hilux 4x4's.

Hey all, Just seen mention of this size tyre on the FJ cruiser forum and was wondering who makes this size tyre? I cant seem to find it on any manufacturers websites. this size should be about 33.8x10.3x17 correct? anyone know?

if anyone is going to go the 1KD engine swap, go for the updated engine in the Prado..... the prado's 1KD is the second generation of this engine whereas the hilux uses the first generation of this engine....big difference in power. hilux makes 343nM stock, Prado makes 400nM stock. add a chip...

We already have these laws here in Australia dn have for some time. If it wasnt for the law requiring bullbars to be airbag compliant, I would have had a tube front bar on my hilux already, but the only alternative is bars like the ARB bars which are good but not great.

Ill be watching this aswell, as Im gearing up to build me own rear wheel carrier too for my hilux. I think Ill be making more of a swing out "gate" style carrier and mount the 285 tyre in the centre with enough room for possibly a 34 or 35 tyre down the track but not to reduce departure angle...
