    Tilt up is more dependent on slat spacing and part size. Distance between parts isn't that critical. 1/8" is plenty.

    Get the forged wheel and forget about it. You should be able to get a 16" tire with a higher load rating than the axle.......

    We use nitrogen at work, makes a cleaner edge. Pretty much zero rounding on 1/4" and down. We cut up to 1" with water assist. Draft is minimal.

    But how much do they have behind the rear axle? That will really effect front loading. Did you ask them how much pressure the are running?

    FWIW, the factory springs that came off my F250SD with 510#'s. Thinking yours should be higher than that.

    Butt weld with 1/16 gap and bevel is good. Edge welds should get full exposure if you can't get to the backside. And yes, lay out your tacks so that you can stitch weld between them. Jump, jump, jump around.

    Width of the material. For MIG stuff we just make the locating tabs forks so that you can edge weld the pieces.

    With the edges the way you have it drawn, I would really recommend getting a TIG. You did not leave a gap for filler that a MIG would require for a good weld. Everything would need to be welded on the inside of the edges for strength. There are a lot of places on that where that will not be...

    Welder... Is your wire rusty? Liner dirty from old wire? Those 2 things will make any mig hateful. IF you don't use it all the time, these things happen.

    2* up or down? A degree or 2 down will not hurt. The springs will wrap up slightly under load letting the pinion raise.

    I have swapped a tranny with 5 ratchet straps before. It was actually pretty easy, just time consuming.

    How do these work at high altitude? Any problems over 10K'? Reduced output?
