Well today I had a few hours to take my daughter over to Davis Island. We went and set up the foxwng. Then we sat around for an hour and a half watching the planes land at the local airstrip, the sail boats at anchor in the harbour, and the pelicans dive bombing for fish off the sea wall...
Actually when we went when we started looking for another car I thought the new TDI wagen was what we were gettin. We had an '04 wagen and after a crash had to get the '06 but the TDI was not available in the wagen then. So when we went for the gas mx5 I was seriously dissaponted. The new TDI...
Ok my wifes Diesel is ready to go. With the new MX5 in the garage the Jetta has been serving as a car for her parents to use the past few months when they are visiting. However they will not be here till Christmas so it is time to go.
Here are the basics. Loaded TDI power everything, Sunroof...
If it were me I would cut a few strips of Star board (cuttng board material) to use as a spacer between the awning and the shell. Then drill right through the side of the flip pack and bolt it on.
Well I finally join the ranks of awning owners. A new Foxwing awning was delivered by Oztent U.S.A.. I spoke with Randy who is nice guy, and has a lot of camping experience. He dropped my Foxwing in the mail to me a day or so later, and this is what I got.
Peeling back the packaging...
I have used an NRS parawing for years on canoe trips. well let me say not used since it is a royal PITA to set up imo. The 2 units are similar but I can quarantee the quality is night and day between the 2. Nice once up but takes several hands.
Ok got it in today and had just enough time to look it over. All I can say is that this thing is very well built. My initial impression of the mounting hardware was that someone put some time into it, and made sure that the bracketry was not skimped on. Hopefully tomorrow I will have the thread...
:wings: Well my Foxwing will be delivered tomorrow! Look for an official Foxwing review soon. I want to thank Randy at Oztent USA for making this a fast and easy transaction. I ordered a passenger side model with a Yakima rack adapter to make it easy to put it on the burb. :victory:
I didn't pick up on it. I actually had 3 other people ask me about it before you did. Although you were the first on the net lol! Oh and I totally understand the ADD thing I actually joke about it in a book I am writing.
I like it. it's now a mini sequoa. I really like the flat roof. It will be an easy rig to put racks on. I hope they set up rack rails that go full length rather then just the rear half of the roof as on the past and current models.
I do have to say that whoever was driving was really ambitios...
well it is long gone in the trash. We were holding it for someone who ended up dieing. Anyway completely rotten unfotunetly. It was a really old piece but had severe termite and rot damage. it would literally crumble in your hands.
Ok well today I finally had a chance to get back in the garage. I decided that I really needed to sort out all the crap in the middle. So I moved everything in the middle of the floor out to the drive.
I found 2 engines, a transmission, a winch bumper and a nasty oil spill dang it. Just...
Ok so I talked with Randy at Oztent U.S. today. A Foxwing is officially on order. :wings: Looking forward to getting this in and set up. I will be doing a full review on the system as I did on my Oztent so everyone can get the skinny on it.
If it is anything like the RV-4 I own then this will...
