true enough....my point was/is, a border with lots of people crossing can go reasonably fast if run right by the officials.
I have had both Guatemala and Belize crossings go smooth and fast and also had them be rough and take forever. Costa Rica is usually more consistent.
Sure people have thought about it, even discussed it, for a long time. I have a video from 1994 where Mike Warn is talking about this very thing. At the time his company (Warn Industries) was wanting to put an event like those you have participated in together here in the USA. As Mike pointed...
whoa there folks...not what I was after. No debates needed!
I simply was wanting to know if the Cruisers were chained up and Rovers were not, as a result the Cruisers didn't winch and the Rovers did. Since I am the one who suggested the chains I am interested in the results.
That is all....
Great pictures! Good to see you off-road....and looks like the chains was a good idea. ;)
So what I am hearing is the Rovers winched but the Cruisers did not? If true was that due to the chains?
No I don't really have issues with the IFS, driven a Tacoma myself. I didn't off-road it much but did do a 15,000 mile stint in it over the course of 13 weeks. On that trip the IFS didn't give me any problems. The little offroading I did do in the Taco while I owned it, it does alright but can...
Actually you are spot on man. The advantages of doing an event like this via vehicle at a time when there may be huge amounts of tourists in the same areas. Well, having your own vehicle(s) means off the beaten path, off the bus routes and away from tourist hot spots. That will cut out a lot of...
Excellent points.
I have crossed a number of the borders that may be crossed during the event. These borders can take 1-5hrs, even when they are fairly lacking of people crossing. It just depends on who you deal with at the border, from my experience. My point is I can't imagine how long it...
Why did you decide to powder coat the valve cover. I know it is not a hot spot on the motor but from what I have read and heard powder coating on an engine is not the best route to go due to heat and the powder coating not liking it.
I am all for cutting back, less impact on the environment ect ect ect
Thing is we are addicted to oil. It is in everything around you not just your fuel tank. This computer I am using, without oil I wouldn't be using it.
It is not going to make a difference if some people drive vehicles that...
Thanks!
I just may have found my next vehicle....a mid-1980s Subrau!! It is only $300, need to check it out still. If I sell my Cruiser I am buying it for an around town/valley car. ;)
