Winch control box reloacation and proper gauge cables.

Even if the winch came with number 3 gauge, I would go with no 2. But that is just me! For the rest, just go for it. I place my rear winch control box just behind my front seat in my Yj. The front control box is integrate in the winch, so no possible move. They are both warn.

    Off-road teardrop build from Canada

My belief is that with the shackle to the front, without a track bar, it might have a tendancy to be unstable. But since you are a bit futher in the built, you could try it, but I suggest not an extendend duration trip, just in case. Keep it coming! :)

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Looks nice, but how will this not be in the way compare to the swing out tha was just following your swing out back door? And can a child or girl friend lift the tire back in place? I can also open my carrier and back door with the trailer hook up, could you do this with that set up???

    Post up your drawer/storage system

What about soaking tha cardboard with epoxy resin? As for hidden or enclosed compartment at a boorder crossing, why does it change anything? When they ask you what you are bringing in the country, you mention up front what you have, and then if they decided to surch your vehicule, you just...

    Futon in truck bed

I leave a futton matress on my front proch all year round to sit and sleep on from time to time, and it is in great shape. But I made a cordura enveloppe for it. Resiste to water, sun, ice/snow and criters. 3rd years so far. So it could be done in the back of a truck bed with cap I'm sure!

    When a winch line breaks...

Yep, and the weight on the steel line also apply, as with the synthetic! If the ancor point gives, like mentionend up here by beaver, it is not just the cable that is coming, it is the hook or whatever is still attached to the cable. Synthetic or steel.

    When a winch line breaks...

Ok, my turn. Your steel cable will not rust if care for just once every couple of years, even up-north in the rust belt, it is call lube. Silicone base is good, liquid molly is great. Bird nesting is not that bad after a couple of use and can be deal with w/onto much problems. Air crfat...

    When a winch line breaks...

I have, many times see a synthetic line spring back to the winch drum like a mad rubber band. So I guess that if the anchor point would give that the clevis would probably come back pretty fast. But I'm like you, beside lab test videos, I have never seen a steel wire break in a real winching...
