Everyone including myself is pretty jealous of your factory front locker @RoamIt! Ask away, I get the crown for most stupid questions on this forum anyway ?
Yea, we have to install a E11 under-run protection around the truck, I think our lockers will suffice so one the on the rear which will be lifting with a simple hydraulic hand pump. We are going to have to model the exact angles with the lift and bigger tires we have. That is a mighty clearance...
Yes, we need to model the theoretical angles a bit better, we have a lift and bigger tires than in the model already but do not have that factored in.
Breakover will just decrease if we move the axles, plus that kind of work isn't on the agenda :)
Not much progress hence either updates in a while, delays after the other. I was warned this project would be a multiyear one from the outset from pretty much everyone on the forum, anyway, we are keeping positive waiting for the windows still and panels (our box building has been forced to find...
I recently went for a full suspension setup from Jon's contact Harald from DFF in Germany. We also converted to single 22.5 wheels which I was assured can be aired down 30% if you opt for the construction site specific tires like the Nokian or R-Truck or Hankook AM15 which have heavy duty side...
Right, i was looking at Airex foam for the same properties, although no one seems to recommend tapping directly into the foam but using those expanding inserts (with poly sleeves) or just bolting right through it.. I agree about the module aspect of ply panels over bonded composites. We might...
Hi Jon, I have read your build pretty thoroughly, amazing quality workmanship Jon! We plan on using 30mm GRP panels for the bathroom, bed garage and maybe the closet too. This will be supplied and installed by the box builders.
I loved the maple details you had for for the edges and corners. If...
Nice, thanks for this, I might look into GRP panels too then to keep costs more in check. I was wondering if you had any pictures from the bonding of your wood edging to the exposed foam core? i think the foam I was looking at was called Airex.. for joinery of the box sections what is the...
Hi,
Well here goes probably a stupid question but in my defence it is motivated by a real obscenity, namely timber prices (up over 64% here in Norway from July last year, and just keep increasing).
I was planning on using 15mm birch 13-ply sheets for my furniture and cabinets(AA), but now cost...
Exactly, whereas DC chassis ground is sometimes used as a circuit. i understand the common traits and diagrams concerning earth to "shore" if plugged in and a floating system as far as AC is concerned from the inverter when using RCD wired devices. I just cannot work out the best approach to...
That is just an example diagram from the wiring unlimited handbook Joe. I will use the Victron Lynx shunt.
What do you mean a dedicated ground wire, why would you advise that? Ground is supposed to be a common neutral return in a AC system, i am sort of asking where it should be ground and why...
Hi guys! Some more advice (again)
I see the topic of chassis grounding (local earth) vs floating systems (IT) brushed over in most cases and not covered in full context and I am still not seeing a clear strategy from reading and re-reading Wiring-Unlimited.
I know the trucks existing system...
I suppose there are many reasons for wanting one vs the opposite. I really think it will help with dust in general but I suppose there is "the look" to consider too :)
On the positive side I have a line on some original Snorkels. If anyone is interested in one let me know.
Can you explain what you mean by overdrive? I find no mention of our trucks having been spec'd with an "overdrive". Then again I find no real technical explanation of the term and it being rather ambiguously referred to.
To my knowledge there were 2 x 6-speeds (i have one of them), a 5 speed...
The outside length of the box is 4830mm.
I am using Autodesk.
I am not sure I understand the hatches you propose, for the garage you mean or seating area? Our drying area will be in the bathroom, we will have one large hatch in the garage as the other side (drivers) will be mostly filled with...
