I use to think it didnt matter. Except when buying a new car for my mom. Two identical cars slightly different options one black one white side by side. Omg the white car was much cooler than the black one it was an easy decision even though the white one needed an option added.
My really dark...
Except in the land of people with purchase power its nearly impossible to find parking for a full size. Mainly due to width. The midsized rigs easily fit into Daily driving and parking around here. Full size not so much. And our Auto Market is the largest in the US. Meaning what sells here gets...
Yup the Sequoia just did a 2700mile round trip. Packed full 2 kids 2 adults + sleek roof box and 900lb 4x6 trailer. 75-80mph across NV and ID returned 15mpg on the way back with a big head wind 14mpg. The 6 days of 35-50mph driving around YellowStone and Grand Teton we did 21mpg tank average...
Why not find a small toyhauler used. Then have the Taco set up for short over night side trips? As mentioned anything beyond 5x10 off pavement sucks. Given to remote camp / boondock generally involves tight dirt roads rough spots, steep climbs etc. getting a 5x10 turned around with few options...
My experience is that to escape the Side by side and ATV crowds you need to be in areas that restrict use of that type of machine given they can go where full sized cars can't go.
On the flip side with a hard side trailer you can base camp in a established Campground with ATV restrictions and...
Good move. Plus having a ride lets you spend time finding the Gem vs being rushed to find another set of wheels. When you do your own basic service stuff multiple cars vs licensing and insurance is a wash. In a goofy combo
Of events we ended up with 4 vehicles all paid for and in great shape but...
What yrs had the smaller calipers? The first couple of yrs? My 05 seems to get good pad life, unlike my 93 J80 which went as few as 10,000 miles on a set of pads.
The 4.7 is a great engine. Though I found with the 05 Sequoia Toyota tuned it to be a soccer mom drag racer and it ideally likes / needs 90 octane when doing hard work. They de rated it in the LC and in 06 Sequoia it got a lower HP rating my guess is due to the octane vs more aggressive timing...
Parked side by side it's pretty amazing how close they are in size. But the 3rd row configuration in the Sequoia is a full 3 across vs a very tight and midget legged 2 seater in the LC. Width wise they are nearly identical. But the new generation Sequoia is a giant fat turd it's really wide!!!!
We rarely just hangout in camp all day. Given the reason we travel to those locations is to explore the area / region. The last two summers we hit two major parks from base camp with two late evening returns to camp. The rest of the time we return for dinner or lunch and do a hike or hit the...
We have a Lifetime Tent trailer the original sorta a mini Jumping Jack trailer. On short local ish trips we usually take our Subaru and most gear gets stacked on the trailer in bins. 5yr old , 7 yr old and the occasional Doberman .5 kid. We just did a big trip end of June and due to the...
Fairrier? That's a dying skill in my neck of the woods. Our guy had a f150 older one just rigged up for his shoe jobs. The rest of the time he drove a 4Runner.
The Sequoia is only body wise about 9.8 inches longer than the LC. I had a J80 before the 1st gen Sequoia. The ability to wedge into...
Same here but my Subaru fits in with the working poor / under employed / granola back country types. The Q7 would get some unwanted attention in the places I like to go. Sorta the opposite of pulling up at a big fundraiser event wearing a nice suit and getting out of my beat up Subaru. That's...
That box has been on a 01 Jetta sedan, 01 Legacy GT, 93 Land Cruiser, 2010 outback and 05 Sequoia. The long narrow boxes are awesome. Best money I've ever spent on car accessories
I run a 30inch wide 7ft long Thule box. On 54in bars I can run two Mt bikes with it. To haul my canoe and box side by side I use my 66in bars. I could probably cut them down to 60, but I also use them to car top my sailboat occasionally and need the 66 length.
I think if I ran a tipped J style...
The v8 full size options are obviously plentiful. I think daily 3k towing with my Sequoia and the 4.7 would grow old pretty quick. It's a baby v8 lots of snap and go in soccer mom mode. But dragging around 3k every day it would be a thirsty dog. The Tacomas V6 would be miserable as a daily...
Just curious if anyone considered a typical contractor cap? Granted it's not an open rack for easier boat loading. I was just curious. We spent 9 days in YellowStone the week before the 4th. I noticed the long term road warrior types all leaned in the direction of keeping he gear and long term...
