    1993 FJ80 values?

That seems a little steep. It is well set up and maintained, but still a little steep. However, which mods would you not do? If you were to buy a 4-5k 93 and do all of those mods, you would probably be behind even without the maint. If it is set up how you want it, then it is a decent...

    Big Black

Turns out it was 4 gauge. I ran an inline 60 amp fuse near the battery and then 30s for everything back at the fuse block. The inverter gets a direct feed though... I just ground everything there at the back.

I would go heavier than that--probably 6 or so. I have 6 guage (I think, I'll have to check) running my inverter, compressor, and rear power ports. I ran the cable to a fuse block in the rear panel and wired everything from there. There is a chart around here somewhere that tells you the...

Nice! I was wondering how easy it is to shift with the fake leg? Any issues in normal driving?

    80 Series vs. 4th Gen 4Runner. Thoughts?

I found that the 80 will pull a 2,000 foot 6 mile climb at speed as long as you get a run at it (used to drive it every week) I also found that when loaded down with a roof rack, a stiff headwind would make it downshift on flat ground. With the 285s that I have now, I don't have any issues with...

    80 Series vs. 4th Gen 4Runner. Thoughts?

2mpg difference at best between the 80 and 100/sequoia. Your 30-40% is going to be purchase price (at least) I can buy a lot of fuel for 10k....

    80 Series vs. 4th Gen 4Runner. Thoughts?

I agree with this, except for one thing. The 80 does just fine on the freeway. It can't pull high elevation passes at speed, and it doesn't tow very fast, but for 95% of the freeways out there, it has more than enough power. I also think it rides just fine.....as good or better than my wife's...

I don't have either, but the ARB is reportedly more complicated and tends to rattle more. Have you looked at the IPOR bumper?

    The world's largest army...

I think you underestimate the ingenuity of the American Redneck. (surprising for a Texan) How much fertilizer (ammonium nitrate) is available in your county? How about blasting caps? Based on our agricultural and mining operations alone, there is enough firepower to make some serious dents...

80 series rust/paint bubbling at windshield

Windshield gasket is likely, but more likely is sunroof drains clogged. If it is just the windshield gasket, you should be able to pull the wind screen and rustproof it and reinstall. However, I would not buy it without determining the extent of the rust--Maybe pull off the trim on the A...

    "Frank," my new 80

discussed ad naseum on mud, but in short, the efi circuit is undersized and tends to fry the EFI relay. Replacing that wire with heavier guage fixes the problem permanently. I wouldn't buy a 3fe truck until you have driven both. However, a properly tuned and adjusted 3fe does have adequate power.

    80 series without roof rack...options ??

That roof rack is worthless. Just get a used yakima gutter mount kit or a real roof rack. I had a confer gutter mount rack on my 94 and use the yakima bars on my current one. And yes, it does breed rust, the nutserts tend to come loose and it will fall off if you have anything heavier than a...
