Charging AGM house and flooded lead road batteries through one solar system?

The goal is to avoid an arc welder running the length of your truck, thus a fuse/breaker at each battery is useful. As you have noted, the link between the batteries will be live on both sides all the time. No reason not to add manual switches for maintenance, but not much reason to do so...

Charging AGM house and flooded lead road batteries through one solar system?

In that case you need two switches - one within the traditional 18" from each battery. And don't forget the fuse/breaker at each battery - which you could also use to isolate the batteries.

Charging AGM house and flooded lead road batteries through one solar system?

Isn't that why you bought the ACR? Why the duplication? In any case, some Blue Sea ACR's already have a manual override. Are you sure you understand what an ACR does and how it works? Now to be less snarky: -- Measure, but I would guess that your Ford can produce well over 14v, so it should...

Basic Dual Battery Setup to run Fridge/Freezer questions (sorry in advance if these are dumb)

AGM is simply a method of battery construction. By putting the acid in a mat it cannot spill and the battery can be mounted on its side. Also, since it is sealed, it will not gas except under extreme circumstances - perfect for fighter planes. See: https://lifelinebatteries.com/ But, AGM...

Basic Dual Battery Setup to run Fridge/Freezer questions (sorry in advance if these are dumb)

As I said, you don't want to know the number of dumb things that I did over the years. This sentence is key: "... using a standard flooded cell starting battery wouldn't work to power a fridge." Delete the words "flooded cell" and you are correct. A deep cycle battery will start...

Basic Dual Battery Setup to run Fridge/Freezer questions (sorry in advance if these are dumb)

You REALLY need to read the materials I referenced. We can help, but ya gotta do your part. (And yes, that is a bit of a flame.) -- And AGM and a FLA are the same. The differences have to do with gassing and vibration resistance. Period. If you want to go with a single battery, you need a deep...

Basic Dual Battery Setup to run Fridge/Freezer questions (sorry in advance if these are dumb)

Yes, if the battery is outside of the heated space AND charged while below freezing. LiFePO4 batteries can discharge while below freezing. Probably safe to assume that he won't be charging if the inside is below freezing - but it is possible - starting the engine after a cold night. As I said...

Basic Dual Battery Setup to run Fridge/Freezer questions (sorry in advance if these are dumb)

Take a deep breath and relax. No one is going to flame you; we've all been there. (Did I tell you 'bout the time I used a diode isolator and killed a battery in the Andes? How 'bout the time I used a starter relay? Bored yet?) None of this is hard, but there are options which can make it...

Solar install on dual battery setup

True. And to put the angels on the head of the pin, even a single sensing relay is dual sensing when combined. I am only aware of one single sensing intelligent relay, the one made by REDARC. Doesn't mean that they aren't out there, but dual sensing makes more sense to me.

Solar install on dual battery setup

Just to be REALLY pedantic - the smart isolator does not regulate the charge - all it does is connect the second battery to the starter battery whenever the voltage of either battery exceeds a set point (usually about 13.2v) and disconnect the two when either drops to another set point, usually...

Older Edgestar Fridge w/out low voltage cutoff...anyone add an external one??

I am not the best at this and I missed what type of vehicle. That said, I don't like Raton Miguelito wires through weather seals. Look at the techniques used for roof top antennae and top mounted lights. I like a down lead and then a proper, sealed gland or similar. You can then run the wires...

Older Edgestar Fridge w/out low voltage cutoff...anyone add an external one??

My pleasure. You are looking at such a low charge rate here that I would use just about the hottest profile that your solar controller has - say 14.5v or more. Lead acids want to get to a full 14.x volts as often as possible.

Older Edgestar Fridge w/out low voltage cutoff...anyone add an external one??

The rule of thumb is that 100w can produce about 5A from a good controller. So, if we guess 10A @ 14v, ten feet away, we get...

Older Edgestar Fridge w/out low voltage cutoff...anyone add an external one??

The only thing magic about proximity is length and gauge of wire. You want to minimize voltage drop. Once you grasp that, it's easy. You could have the controller in the next county as long as the wire gauge is large enough for the load. In your case, with a little care, you could easily put...

But isn't that the point? An Earthroamer/cruiser, et al. are not "Off-Road" vehicles, they are overland vehicles. Similar, but not the same thing. Want a off roader, get a Jeep/Toyota/ATV or whatever. Want to go both ways around the world? There are better choices. Example, the Bells are...

Looking to convert MB 1019 AF. Need help! :)

If I understand correctly, 10 bolt wheels are easy to find; it is the 8 bolt size where the options are few.
