Thanks guys, the bar is called a 'side-rail' or we call them 'brush-bars' as you brush against things that get in your way. just contact your local ARB dealer and they should be able to get specs and sizes for you - I dont see why the hilux ones couldnt fit the Taco's ?
there wouldnt be that...
Thanks Mate (*blush*)
I dont know about outstanding, aint got nowhere near the mods of your truck, still have heaps more plans for the future, aslong as funds are there and the missus dont complain too much, I keep telling here, I need the mods so we can go away better and more...
yeah I want to paint it black aswell, but the missus was 'squealing' that she liked the chrome and it matched the checkerplate on the side steps - Im planning to get some black high density foam and cover the bars with them, I heard if you try and paint the chrome, it'll flake off very quickly...
G'day fella's,
Im back again to update my buildup with another little addition to the beast!
Here is what Ive been up to today-
Firstly, after being stuffed around by people promising to build me a custom made rack, then ending up quoting more than what they said would be the "ballpark"...
Tacodoc, have you thought about using an airbag setup between the leaves and the chassis ?
we use them on quite a few trucks here in australia and the beauty is you can adjust the air pressure in the airbags depending on how much weight your carrying.
Im thinking of using these on my truck in...
Im sorry to dissappoing you guys, I know how exciting and wonderful it sounds but honestly, the thing is a dud!
I have seen it close up and the minor add ons do not justify the very high price that it will be when released, around $70,000 australian dollars.
The problem is trd here in...
G'day Guys,
Geez, Its been a while since Ive posted on here, been reading alot of the other buildup threads and been slowly getting ideas on how to toughen up my hilux so here are some progress shots continuing from the end of my last post.
To begin with, here are some flex shots I took out...
yes that training day was put on by my department at Toyota.
anyway, my hilux has a thick vinyl floor, so Im happy with that. The dash is pretty basic and knob controls are manual.
The windows are powered, which I dont really care if they were or were not, thou I'd prefer manual windup...
And he's some more extreme ones -
Up one side of the hill and then a 62 degree drop down the other. It was done at a 4x4 training weekend with instructors teaching and showing us where the limits of our vehicles were in a controlled environment. Very helpful before heading out into the...
Heres my hilux guys. I couldnt help but contribute to this thread.
Its an 07 model, bout 3 months old.
Has the 1kD 3 litre common rail diesel engine and 4 speed auto. (I wish it was a 5 speed)
I have lifted it 3" thou the bullbar has pulled that down a little so it's just over 2.5". I have...
yeah, not too many tyre companies make this size do they?
BFG makes em, Maxxis Bighorn, and TRXUS are the only ones that I know off.
I'd love the Bighorns next but only if their sidewalls had an extra ply in strength, coz the price is ok compared to the BFG. Then again you get what you pay...
Sorry to rub it in but I couldnt help myslef and I really feel sorry for you Yanks missing out on the benefits that diesel engines give.
Here in Australia diesels are king and have been for a while, but the new generation of common rail diesels is absolutely awesome.
Let me give ya some...

I have changed the wheels to a black steel 16x8 rim, with the same tyres as before and have fitted an ARB Winchbar.
I think the next I get tyres Im pretty certain I'll be...
