Well I guess my charities are as follows. My church First! Then I support the national parks and forests, Hillsborough county parks and recreation via friends of the parks both fund raising and volunteer, and then some random acts to direct random people. The later happens as an in the moment...
I would agree that trailers in general are a P.I.T.A. but with some newer and better tech you would be surprised how much less maintanence you will have. As far as tires it is tuff issue since it is hard to find good quality small trailer tires.
Sea Pearl 21
Personally I am really into the Sea pearl 21 units from Marnine Concepts. These little boats are based on an old Herreshoff design and are incredible little boats. True yacht quality that can go anywhere. They can be towed by a 4 cyl car no problem and hang with any small boat on...
I do alot of photography from canoes and kayaks. You have a few options for carrying slr cameras but here is my personal favorite set up.
Go to www.nrsweb.com and order a drybag made by watershed. Look for the ocoee model and order it with the padded liner. This bag is totally waterproof. It...
Souris river is kind of like the candian version of wenonah. They build a variety of hull laminates including some interesting s-glass laminates that are nearly transparent. My general feeling is that if you live in the U.S. then buy a U.S. made boat. Shipping across borders to handle a warranty...

Lunch in the rain. Left overs from tropical storm Fay.
These are some old pillings from the logging days. There were small foot bridges over the river for access to the swamp.
This one has tree growing out of it, how's that for irony?!
Finally the river starts to open up a bit and get...
Uh Oh watch out for the gators on the portage!!!
Another tricky portage.
Look out snakes on the portage also! Thankfully this was only a brown water snake not a moccasin.
There were several slipery and tricky portages that we encoutered and on this trip it is only a matter of time before...
Duck low!
Our first portage of the trip.
Another portage. watch out for poison ivey!!!
Then we turned up a creek that had a portage to enter and then paddled into a small slough just wide enough for a canoe. We had to drag the boats 50' back to the river. The roots of this tree show why...
Well I just led a trip on the river last weekend through the 17 runs. This is the most difficult section of the Hillsborough River and one of the more challenging short day trips in all of Florida. It is written about periodically when ambitious families head out and get lost in the swamp. Even...
I have full breathers on the drive train. Trans, transfer, axles etc. I have also filled every connector with die electric grease and sealed my distributor. Removed my complete intake system and sealed through the Safari snorkel. I have never had an issue with water and I have been very deep for...
Well that is great news for Toyo fans. I know several guys running the toyo mt and they like them. Personally I am running maxxis bighorns in 255 and although the Toyo mt is tempting to try They are 11lbs per tire heavier. That would net a loss of another 6.285 hp from my little 2.7 so I think...
Well I do not own a campa but I have used a campa on several occasions and have taken more then a few showers using that omega unit. It seemed to work fine in my experience. Even getting up on a few 50 degree morning and taking a shower was good. I think the omega unit does a good job over all...
I know I started planning this build a few months ago and happened to be home sunday witht he tv on. When it came on I was surprised to see them building the same basic set up. Only they are going v-8 power and big tores so I will take a different direction there. I loook forward to watching the...
Yea I hear ya it's just that when I look at the current offerings all I see are vehicles that get are getting harder and harder to work on. They do not really offer any better economy that is for sure.
What I have planned is basically building a new vehicle that meets my needs and is something...
So after alot of debateing I think I have decided to scratch build my next vehicle. I have been searching for the right model to start with. I need something that I can use as a daily driver and one day move over to expo use. It has to be able to seat 4 since we plan on starting a family in the...
I have had several full size grease guns and all of them leak bad especially witht he synthetic grease I have been using. I do however have a mini gun from napa and in 3 years it has never leaked. I cary that one in the rig with some spare mini pac refills.
Well form y truck I have been running a cheap pair of walmart tractor square lamps for back up lights. THey have worked gerat for 5 years no problems at all. They put out good light and were like $20.00. I have considered adding 2 more of these pointed sideways jsut to throw light on a differnt...
