My 100 series will have 250k on it before the next oil change is due. The 4.7 is an outstanding engine with a lot of life left in it. I'd bet the ranch on it being one of the most reliable gas V8's every built.
I had a coil pack fail last year. It started to hesitate during acceleration...
Nuts. Sometimes you get lucky and just need a new chord. Rubbed through casing and shorted out... Happened on my last two Dodges. You can test the block heater with a multimeter. I think the cords are around $20 good luck
Love your truck by the way. I miss my 01 :(
Oh and never use starting fluids unless you make sure the gp's are not turning on. Disconnect power to them just to be safe. One whiff of that stuff hitting a hot plug can cause multiple cylinders to fire all at once you can imagine the engine damage.
Edit: -Buliwyf beat me to it :)
Check Rock Auto sometimes they have the Motorcraft plugs for a great deal. Again Motorcraft nothing else..
One cycle will get the plugs as hot as they need to be. If it doesn't start after a few cranks cycle them again. I've found multiple cycles before the first crank does more bad than...
I loved our Cummins but we outgrew the quad cab the first time I loaded a car seat.
This^ I went the turbo IDI route and haven't looked back. you can read why in my sig if you want. Simple. Reliable and plenty of power and 4 doors.. Aftermarket turbochargers are common used or new...
I agree. CV's are easy and far less messy. If you're in a hurry you can leave the knuckle attached to the upper BJ and leave the brake hardware in place as well. Those outer axle clips bend easily when removed/installed. Not a bad idea to keep a few extra onboard. They are available in...
Here's a platform I made for my 100 series Land Cruiser for fairly cheap. I used some 2x8's for the vertical supports and a nice piece of plywood. I found this ugly piece of rubber back carpet for the top. Using turn buckles I secured it to the original third row seating attachments. My dogs...
There was a time when I rode my CR500R at the St. Anthony dunes nearly every weekend. Those dunes are a riot. Never been out on them in a 4x4. Looks like good times
Its better to have it and not need it that to need it and not have it (LOL) which is why I bring the 24 pack of Hamm's along with a 12 pack of Rainier or a bottle of my favorite Canadian Whiskey. Having too much is cheap insurance for those times when my wife decides she whats to throw a few...
93-95's (although they are rare IDI's became an option in 95) had the optional turbo kit which is essentially a wastegated ATS 093. Not a bad setup imo. Any of the turbo kits early or late model (Banks, ATS, Hypermax, etc) are better than nothing if you need more power.
If it's healthy...
