A few questions of longtime Chevy/GMC IFS 4wd owners.

Well, looks like I will be a ginny pig here. I have had numerous trucks, wheelers, etc for the past 40 years of driving from custom axles to HD tow rigs with beam axles. My JK is set up pretty decent as a do it all kinda truck- tote kids, wheel most anything, or DD. However, I just sold my '11...

    Next Model for New Adventures

130s are the bomb- hopefully Doug will chime in too. I too have little ones, and the only drawback to the 130 is the rear seat legroom is about 2-3" less than a 110, and the overall length can be a handful in tight spots. I had a CC p/u the first time round, and a full on box this build which is...

Defenders more uncomfortable than Discovery's/Range Rovers?

Let's see if I can put in perspective at 6'-3" and 245#. I have driven Defenders from NC to Co, to Moab, to Belize, and to Newfoundland, but have ridden motorcycles as far and more often. In all reality I think I like the Defender experience because it is a lot like the bikes- you are part of...

    Axle question and your opinion.

pick up a military surplus D60 front from a M1028 or equal as it already has 4.56s and a Tru Trac. Now you can sell both the 44 and 10 bolt- even sell one now, and the other after fitting the 60, and have D60s F&R- no more issues. I am positive you will save decent money and be able to just bolt...

Bob gave me the shipping cost when he returned as well as an invitation to pass as it was about equal to the cost of the wheels negating their discounted price.

should have seen the 3 JKs we wheeled this w/e then ;-) Also, don't leave out us old farts- well beyond 40, who still build and wheel our own trucks... We did ask the RRC guys still broken from last w/e if they needed a hand though- he only broke all 6 motor mounts!!

    Upgrades for Suburban IFS

Fellowtraveler mentions above a reference to the '92-'99 having stronger IFS components- is that correct? If so, why not retrofit with those bits? I am considering an '01 hence the question. Thanks Whoops, I see you are already have early IFS, but I would still like clarification if anyone...

Why the Jeep Wrangler is the new Defender.

Interesting thread for sure. I have not been Defenderless since '93. They are great trucks, extremely capable, easily modified and obviously hold their value well. One point to remember is they began production in late '82 as an '83 model and have been slowly refined to current standards. Those...
