Anyone know of a RTT size or custom order UL goose down quilt?

I have three down quilts for my RTTs and my favorite is the JackRBetter Katahdin. Size is about 65w x 85 long and i don’t get drafts when tossing and turning. Rated for zero and only costs about $350 (which is less than most high-end makers charge).

2-Door JK JeepKitchen - AT Chaser - Globetrotter - National Luna build thread

That sounds like a good deal. Mine was a demo and I think I paid around $2900 (including the Iso kit) shipped with 5 years of warranty. If yours is truly brand new with at least a couple of years worth of warranty I'd snatch it up for $3K. Again, I'd verify (from the manufacturer or authorized...

I'd have to say it's a good tent, meaning that it hasn't failed me over the last three years. I have recently noticed that there are several large cracks in the gel coat and that bothers me a bit...but I haven't taken very good care of the gel coat and the tent does not leak. Some observations...

Does anyone know where to find this piece

It does look nice and short. A bulkhead fitting, nipple, and quick-release fitting are going to be a hell of a lot longer than that.

    New trucks and 4low...

Yeah, that's what made me fall in love with my little Jeep about 11 years ago. It is the first (and only) rig I've owned that doesn't have manual hubs. Going from 2WD to 4H at 30 MPH in a blizzard is really nice...and if the roads is better 10 miles later, just switch back to 2WD. I'll admit...

Bummer about your wiring...but it's better that you fix it than find out after something bad happens! I'm sure the saw still leaks a bit. I put the triple-folded towel down under the saw compartment. My thinking is that it's easier to wash a towel than a duffle bag. If it gets through the towel...

If one were created I would certainly keep an eye on it. Don't think I could contribute much...but I would hope to learn something.

    Electric Chain Saw???

@Bear in NM has a good brain. I took the bar off my saw and the problem is solved for now. If anyone wants specifics I put some pics in my Jeep build thread.

All heil @Bear in NM . He is a smart fellow. In this thread , he mentioned that he stores his electric saw with the bar removed. Genius!!!!! I tried it today. First I took the saw apart to see how big it would all be with the bar seperated: Then I started looking around the basement for...

    Components on while charging?

I don't know anything about solar, but I have a NOCO 10A in my Jeep and leave it plugged in 24/7 in my driveway when not camping to maintain my batteries. The National Luna fridge is running all the time too. Hasn't seemed to cause any problems yet. If this is a bad thing to do...I'd also like...

    Let's talk frying pans

Great video. Answered all my questions. Gotta admit that the two, 12-inch cast iron pans in my Kanz Kitchen make it a very heavy chuck box. I think I'll pick up a carbon pan and give it a try. My favorite part of switching to cast from coated is the ability to use steel utensils. Don't always...

    Electric Chain Saw???

You know, storing my saw with the bar removed is a darned good idea (that I obviously didn't think of). Would make for a much smaller package and greatly expand my bag/box options. It's pretty easy to take off/put on the bar and I don't often use the saw.

    Let's talk frying pans

I've only recently started playing with cast iron and have fallen in love with it. Just gotta learn how to cook on it (compared to non-stick). Never heard of carbon-steel pans. What's the difference between carbon and cast?

My Yakima Skyrise RTT has been falling apart

That sucks. How long have you been using it? How many nights have you slept in it? Be sure to use a second nut to lock the nuts together (if there is enough room) and “medium” locktite. It’s worth the extra trouble.

    New trucks and 4low...

I use 4L all the time. Mostly for situating my rig at a camp site. Granny gear is great for driving over logs, pulling up on leveling blocks, off-camber stuff, pulling things into or out-of the road, backing up with a trailer (especially in the woods). Anytime that slow, controlled driving is...

why are rooftop tents so expensive?

They are expensive because idiots like you and me...pay for them. I have paid nearly 3K for an RTT, and I am not likely to do so again. Anyone that tells you that a fiberglass shell with a tent in it justifiably costs four thousand dollars is lying to you. ANYONE. Dude one builds the tent at a...
