I was talking more in the context of camping with a truck camper.
I would rather do everything outside too but when the weather is crappy it would be nice to have a fallback inside. And at least for me my stove takes up virtually no room inside the camper.
I am a Coleman nut too, the...
If it is just a stove they don't really take up much more room, basically a counter when not being used. For boondocking it might be nice to be able to heat water for dishes or whatever, it would take some of the strain off the electrical if you can use propane to heat things instead of a water...
I kinda blew off the heater until my last trip. With projected lows in the 30's we ended up dragging along my inlaws camper because it was going to be too cold for a tent and a little kid (10mo)
I am still getting my Skamper squared away but getting the heater working is now on the "to do...
Gladiator wheelbase is within an inch of my Supercab Shortbox F-150, I was comparing more for maneuverability vs what I already have.
Gladiator has the dash tucked up tight against the firewall, not a big waterfall/blob of black plastic like most newer trucks. It just felt like "home" It took...
Drive both, I have driven neither but just sitting in them I really liked the Gladiator better. Interior blew away GM, overall the truck looks nicer too (IMO)
It is kinda long (wheelbase isn't far from a extended cab fullsize) and I would prefer the removable top was optional but for me it...
Depending on what you are thinking of keep in mind Ford doesn't recommend a slide in camper in the back of a crew cab. It does make sense with the axle clear to the front of the bed though.
That was the final nail in the coffin for me getting a newer Ranger.
I have a friend that has a surplus humvee engine in his truck. Loud, smokey and slow but has about the same footprint as a SBC, uses a normal gm drivetrain and runs on about anything flammable that pours.
They cut out shortly after the group picture was taken but the couple that had the brown BII, their son tagged along in his JK. He was going to school in the area, I didn't get a chance to ask but I wonder if it was Purdue. They hauled the BII up from Texas to hang out with us and their son...
XL/STX has been available from the start in the US. Only way to get the FX4 on an XL.
Kind of stupid pile of letters to get there though. "yeah I have the FX4 package on my XL STX Ford Ranger"
FIFY ;)
Then off to go play in the sand dunes, that was new to me.
What country are in again?
This was the group minus two other Rangers, they had to leave early. Not to brag but I had the oldest and drove it the farthest, about 1100 miles round trip counting the trail ride.
The whole...
East bound and down with a weird smoke shaded sun at our back Thursday night
Grabbed supper on the road
This guy might be on here, but he about got ran over toddling along at 40mph in the dark. Had super bright headlights though.
We were running pretty light:
Stopped at a cool...
I am 6'-3" with a 34" inseam, the Gladiator and Ranger would be my picks for a midsize. Legroom will be limited behind me.
Never driven/rode in either but I have played with both at autoshows.
FWIW I just drove 1000 miles in my standard cab '85 Ranger to Indiana and back last weekend and I...
Its been crazy getting ready so this is kind of a quickie update as I wait for my camera cards to transfer. My version of wimpy "overlanding" is getting wimpier this year... with lows in the 40's and a 10mo along my FIL is bringing his regular camper so lil guy doesn't get cold. I am a polar...
Some get queasy about swapping but for the XJ the 31 spline 8.8 out of a solid rear is kind of a common swap. Same basic axle that is in a lighter F-150 with the right width and same wheel bolt pattern as a Jeep. 95-01 have disk brakes. 4.10’s are a factory option to help turn tires. It’s the 9”...
