Me thinks you hit the nail right on the head HBE! Cudos! Only flaw would be pressure bowing out and maybe blowing out the sides. Add some top rails and some supports/braces and fill. To easy. Though two other thoughts now arise.
You'd still have to insulate (spray foam) between the two...
Roof deck?
Why not just build a roof deck or platform? You could easily have a ladder to the top. And you would be well elevated to see over obstacles to take your pics and whatnot? The process of attaching and removing seems like an unwarranted hassle unless maybe you were going to be in one...
I was afraid that wouldn't come across as I intended it to. I meant that I am learning to not find (my flaw...getting better :) ) fault for such a stupid, poorly based idea. Esp. here on the portal, the desire to buy, not build is less likely to be lack of motivation and more just to busy...
Cool thread...
I just spent the last hour or so reading this entire thread. Very cool stuff. I love the multiple interpretations for the same task.
Towards the last third the thread gets a little...uh, muddy? And I wanted to offer a little thought.
I have always been a DIY guy. I have normally...
Someone GETS it...
See...HBE understands me...I guess I'm not that nuts! Haha...Yea!
I like it. There are some differences I would do but that is me. The great thing is the pride and contentment of being able to say "I built that"...and it doesn't hurt to say..."And it cost me less than...
Cost is of course a matter of perspective. What is "cheap or affordable" to one is nothing or maybe everything to another.?.
I am one of those that prefers to allow my strong back/weak mind to offset the small wallet/low paying career choice..heehee. In other words, if my sweat and labor can...
Where R Ewe...?
Hey,
Just curious as to what part of Germany you are in? I am heading to Graff/Vilsect early next year and am trying to learn more of what to do and where to go in Germany...I'm a little excited.
Scenic...From what I can tell there appears to be sorta 3 seperate "camps" when it comes to living in one of these metal monsters.
-the tree hugger...Those folks that are attempting to make some sort of eco-impact by reducing carbon and being off grid and eating tofu... JK. I poke a lot of fun...
Oops...
Trump. I figured you ment it as a joke. Sorry if my reply seemed like it was gruff...didn't mean it that way.
And your also correct on most of your other points. I had only glanced at the "new model photos" in the linky and was a little (still am, haha) lacking for sleep. In effect...
Bhaf...
Here in Iraq I see all the civilian contractor guys running something called a "TopSpin" as a prefilter for their semi's....Anyone know anything about these? As much dust and crud as they see going up and down the road...Would the one's they use work on a 3/4-1ton dodge...uh, no. But...
Tools...?
So how do you work the slip-fit pipe? I tried using one of those junky exhaust expanders available at (yeah, I know. It was an experiment) HarborFreight to make the tubing slip together and it didn't work. Did you just butt jion your tubing? Curious..
Not so great...
Being around those OKtrucks here all the time I have to say that as an RV or mobile home they wouldn't be all that great. Depending on how often one moves it would be very expensive. 2-6MPG if your lucky and a top speed of about 62mph. And while they are cool in the "Zombies be...
Can't register...
JG, I tried to register on SS site but it says registration is closed for new site something-or-other..? I found a couple posts on the forum that talks about the dollies but I have no way to pm the folks? You ever talk to ARMYMAN30YearsPlus ?? He seems to have several of them...
What a waste...
Without going into political or other muddy waters of personal beliefs...I want to mention that I find it sad that the potential of ISBUs are being ignored. You kinda hit it on the head Rosco. There are piles (literally) just wasting away in port cities all over the world. And...
Need more intel...
Do you know anyone that knows anything about these in detail? How they work, some kind of online resource? I real curious now...gee, thanks! Haha.
Only flaw I see for my application is the air brakes. I have no way to run them of a civvy 3/4 ton truck...? Thoughts?
Found one...
Quick search and here one is! All the way in VA I think...poo. So they bumper pull via a pintle, right? IIRC, on you steel soldiers site folks were talking about them being hard to back up with a duece...right? SOmething about the front assembly articulating.?. Doesn't it have a...
