Love it, Brian. I'm currently exploring awning options and I may very well be stealing this page from your book. I also need an option that will allow for the simultaneous mounting of my tent, and this looks like the ticket.

I am, indeed. You likely won't need longer front brake lines. I didn't need them. Seems like most don't require new lines until they delve into Titan swap territory, and that's a whole new ball game.
It works. Like Tom said, most people who run extended travel coilovers on this platform run a ~1 inch top mount spacer to reduce pre load on the strut and maintain lift/down travel. In fact, it's almost necessary considering how and where the UCAs are mounted above the coil bucket to get the...
Ordered a set of Maxtrax MKII in olive drab with mounting pins. Hopefully they'll be waiting for me when I get home from the Mojave in a week.
I'll also be installing my rear bumper, after I finish painting it.
I'm looking at doing a trip up to the Hoh Rainforest on the Olympic Peninsula in...
Nope, recently changed over to the Nisstec MK 84 coilovers with 1 inch spacers. I needed heavier springs, so I took the opportunity to get extended travel struts. However, I didn't need extended brake lines with the OME/spacer setup, either.
... And I understand the whole 'aging melon' thing. I...
Nope. You won't need them. I even tried my 1.5 inch spacers on top of the coilovers, just to play around, and there was still enough brake line even while turning the wheel at full droop. I like Nisstec (and what they offer for the Nissan community), but they're wrong in this particular instance.
Check the torque on the bolts of your LCAs. It's a fairly common issue that's more exacerbated by cold weather (metal contracts in the cold allowing some play between the LCA and frame mounts so they slide slightly back and forth as the weight of the vehicle shifts). If they're torqued to spec...
Thanks for the info, Adam. It's nice hearing an actual testimonial of usage.
I remember reading somewhere that the weather hoods also keep tents cooler in the summer months due to the reflective properties of the material. Is this true, or am I fabricating this information in an attempt to...
Thanks man! Love the snorkel, by the way. I was soooooo close to getting in on TNX group-buy, but I needed the rear bumper more and couldn't justify it. Oh well, next time.
Zing!
Welcome to the forum. You don't see many 1st Gens in blue, I love that color.
Where did you live in WA? I try to make it out to the Olympic Peninsula almost every weekend, I love it out there.
Yeah, the suspension was a recent change. Thanks!
I'm leaning towards some sort of traction board over the winch right now. For my purposes, it just seems like the better option. I'll just have to figure out an external mounting solution, as the roof isn't really an option when I have my tent...
Interesting, you don't see too many tube-style rear bumpers for the 2nd gen Xterra. Looks like you could even crop the rear corners to blend the lines flush with the bumper, improving departure angles a bit. Not that it would be necessary for most of us....but seems doable.
Does anyone have any experience with the Tepui weather hoods in cold/rainy/snowy environments? I'm looking for some practical additions to my winter camping equipment, and am exploring picking one of these up for my Kukenam Sky. I'm just looking for some insight as to whether or not it would be...
Realistically, no. I could not have winched out of that particular predicament. To my right was a sheer rock face and to my left was a steep decline with no trees I would have felt comfortable winching off of. I suppose with some sort of artificial ground anchor, I could have, but in my...
