Land Cruiser 100 to Jeep Rubicon Unlimited: Capability? Comfort?

I just stumbled on this thread today, and although it is old I thought I'd add my two cents. First of all, nice land cruiser! I really like it and I could easily be talked into one of those if a low miles, affordably priced truck were to come my way. I briefly looked around today and it looks...

    Wrangler "completely new in 2017"

Like the price of bumpers? Holy cow are they expensive, $2000 for a piece of metal to bolt to the front end.....sheesh!

2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Uberlanding Build

No kidding. And what does it really do besides add bling? It doesn't get me down the road any better then my stock factory hood so it's a no go for me.

They're going to need some super bling to outdo that!

Good quality roof racks out there?

It's really my fault for derailing the thread. All of us JK guys hanging around must get old.....:bigbossHL:

Good quality roof racks out there?

I believe the OP was looking for an XJ rack.

Here is a test of AWD and 4WD.

Maybe my experience was positive because I have a rear limited slip. I was changing the oil with my son yesterday and wanted to teach him how an open dif works. I jacked up one wheel on the rear axle and expected it to just spin when I put it in drive. I was quite surprised after I turned off...

2013 jk rubicon unlimited tire/suspension questions

You have a fairly high gear for 35 inch tires. I'm sure it's been done a lot but you may want to find some cheap used ones and try them out on the road before spending the cash on a new set. I'd hate to shell out over a grand to find out my Jeep is now a dog. You do have a fairly low first gear...

2013 jk rubicon unlimited tire/suspension questions

Chad, What gear ratios and transmission are you running? That will help for tire selection.

Here is a test of AWD and 4WD.

I didn't know that you had to. I thought it was all part of the traction control system, operated by the speed sensors at the wheels? Mine seems to come on automatically in the rough stuff. I can't seem to find a diagram of the rear lsd/locker, but the front is definitely not anything like a...

Here is a test of AWD and 4WD.

Well it is in the Jeep section, so I automatically wondered "how would my Jeep do?"

Optima yellow top battery in their Jeep JK?

Thank you, that clarifies everything I've been reading!

Here is a test of AWD and 4WD.

I honestly don't know how it would do. My JK has a pretty aggressive traction control system without using the lockers.

Good quality roof racks out there?

If I didn't know any better I'd swear that pic was taken in the Columbia Basin in Oregon or Washington!

    My 2013 Unlimited Rubicon

Thanks, I knew that already, i'd just lost it in the back corner of my brain. I actually built a spread sheet on the AUS base Jeep and compared it to the TLC and LRD last year. I posted up the results on here. As I recalled (right after the post) you can't get a Rubi diesel in Australia, but you...

Optima yellow top battery in their Jeep JK?

I thought all JK tow packages had the flat four connector?

Here is a test of AWD and 4WD.

I for one would like to see the Jeep JKU in a similar test to see what it's traction control is capable of. From what I've heard the Grand Cherokee traction control is superb and I wonder if Jeep can get similar results with the JK, even though it's a different setup altogether. Great thread, I...

    My 2013 Unlimited Rubicon

I've enjoyed this thread so far and a lot of the discussion is about things I plan to do as well to mine. I didn't catch it if you mentioned it, but is your JKUR the 3.6 or the 2.8crd motor? If it's the 2.8crd, what are your thoughts on this engine?
