    Willys Wheeler VS Rubicon

My problem with the Moab is that they priced it quite a bit higher than a rubicon. About 5k as I remember. For the price difference a person could add the aev bumpers and hood to a rubi and come out ahead.

If I could get the jeep to go in the garage my wife would probably go into shock!

    Baja Rack UT

Fwiw, I was getting 19 mpg highway after my bumpers and winch. I've lost about 2 mpg with a two inch lift though. I have the 4.10 gears and 32 inch tires. I love the look of the ut rack, I'm just not sure how much I'd use it. Maybe someday......

Manual vs. Auto / Rubicon vs Sport

The auto is better in mud, snow, hill climbs and rocks. It all has to do with not having to run a clutch and losing momentum while shifting. The stick is nice for descending hills and driving on windy back roads. I have an old jeep with a stick, but my new one has an auto for the reasons I...

Land Cruiser 100 to Jeep Rubicon Unlimited: Capability? Comfort?

Yeah, I'll bet! I said that too, along with everything else. My jeep just passed one year old and I already have front and rear bumpers, tire carrier, winch, front and rear lights, and now a proper lift. It's easy lose patience and get carried away!

    Bluehash's slow build thread - 2013 JKUR

Nice Jeep! I have my fire extinguisher in the same spot, only drivers side. I wanted to mount it to the seat frame but it's too fat for the door to close. The extinguisher is secure with the door shut.

To lift or not to lift...

CL is your friend. I bought a complete used OME lift for $300 for my JKUR, with the tags still on the springs. There's got to be a ton of used XJ stuff out there, and springs don't wear out over night. OME also sells just components, so you can buy the springs and then add other stuff later...

    hardtop insulation

I used 3m double back foam tape that i bought at Wal Mart. Four $5 rolls are still holding my panels up. I read a few reviews of people's insulation coming off, so I used a lot of tape.

    hardtop insulation

I built a set and they help quite a bit in the summer. They're easy to build, just take my advise and use hi temp spray adhesive.

To lift or not to lift...

My brother has the budget spring spacer and block lift for his 96 xj with some 32" on rubicon tires. He really likes it for its superior ride characteristics on and off the road. If you do choose to lift and don't plan bumpers I would highly recommend it. It's budget priced but there's nothing...

To lift or not to lift...

There's not enough info provided for me or anyone else to make a very good judgement call on this. If you are after a taller tire size or that lifted look, then by all means, get a lift. If you have heavy bumpers and a winch, rack, etc. a spring lift will be fine, but if you don't I would advise...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Finished my headliners! Super easy to make and they look good. Cost was right at $100 after I made the mistake of using standard spray tack. I had to get more fabric and use the high temp stuff. I'm sure I could have done it for around $60 with everything included. Then, I installed a set of...

More proof that Jeep is the leader in 4x4 overland vehicles

Oh yeah, I would trade my jkur for a series 70 troopy any day of the week, especially if it were an Aussie spec troopy!

    Purpose Built JKUR....looking for suggestions

I wouldn't use a spacer and stock springs unless you like bottoming out a lot. A stiffer set of springs is definitely the way to go, and I'd add the heavy load springs in the front too. My next step would be an equalizer hitch for the trailer. It will be the best mod you do.

More proof that Jeep is the leader in 4x4 overland vehicles

I see very few vehicles on here or elsewhere that are truly expedition builds. Most of the vehicles I see on here are just a collection of all the cool aftermarket accessories a person can fit on there vehicle. In turn this often makes a vehicle less fuel efficient, heavier and less reliable. On...

    It's a jeep thing

Taking the hard top off at the first of spring only to be rained on for a week, then puting it back on when you've had enough and you get nothing but sunshine! Also, how about freezing to death driving around topless in the spring and fall.
