Stopped by LCP's today on the way home from a trip to the other side of town for the weekend. I've no idea yet if they fit or will be a tremendous addition to my 80. That said, the package contains not one but TWO Tootsie Rolls, one for each of my girls. As they sit and start their homework...
You're not an idiot. You're a guy whose taken what many would consider a lost cause (your trailer when you found it) and has been successfully transforming it into something not only practical but something that has many envious of where this is obviously heading.
Keep it up!!!!
Curious why you didn't thru-bolt the corner protection. Now you've got extra work to clean up and re-paint the interior that was so nice and purty?
Just a question from a jealous no-trailer-owner lurker. Really like your build.

Great build, just chiming in with a compliment and now officially following along. What are the dimensions of the closed box (H x L x W)?
....and where did you find that trailer to begin with? Seems like a great base to work off of and your current setup seems to be a better platform than...
Great writeup, looks like an awesome trip (minus the long, boring drive back home - ha). That descent looks hairy, no doubt. Makes me wonder how my '92 would have fared overall (front/rear ARB lockers on mine) - regardless, white knuckles would have been present here as well.
Are your front...
Just picked up my first Luci - Walmart now sells them for $15. Pretty darn cool, looking forward to using it this year while camping.
Admittedly, I don't entirely get the point of inflating it as it has zero affect on luminosity but....I digress.
Echoing the notion of going with a pivoted solution, it might be worthwhile reading this as well. That link takes you to an illustration of what someone else has done and deeper in the thread you'll see where he pulled it off (damn nice trailer build and done in very little time). Seems to be...
SCJ - I'm in-between meetings at the moment, thought I'd inquire with you but one teeny-tiny little thing still causes me pain and it's the lack of power in my '92 on long freeway runs (uphill being the culprit). Knowing you also get out on some long treks, what's your long-term plan? Are you...
Toyota guy here - just wanted to check out what else is being driven out there. I recently saw a really nicely kitted-out Xterra on our way back from a family vacation in Mexico so had the bug to look over here and see "what's what" - yours is the first thread I read.
Great trip, great pics...
Interesting - you're talking about laying something like this sideways to give some off-center clearance and then going with the Knucklebone (correct?). Didn't think of that.....
^^ Got it, thx.
Another, the Dorman window assembly --> your dad (a while back) responded to a query I had on MUD concerning the original window motor rebuild. In short, I was inquiring about how to keep current constant when trying to lower/raise all four windows at once (current setups...
Looks like you've had the new injectors for ~5 months (sounds like at least a couple of lengthy drives with them in). There are quite a few folks who are "go OEM or go bust"; that said, how did you come across the Osidetiger's? I'm not an injector-guru, perhaps they were an obvious choice...
Didn't read the entire thread but Detour USA is worth checking out. Thread over on Mud got my attention a while back - effective, inexpensive, does the job of getting the tire out of the stock location (also keeps it off the roof). Something to look at...
I hear you (also not interested in deployed legs/lines). I'm tracking a few FJ80-related projects I intend to get to here, great way to keep visual reference of what is of interest to you over time.
thx again....
