Need you to help me decide, which vehicle to buy for overland adventure for 1+year

I'd take the rubicon. Box stock probably the most capable vehicle and drivetrain rugged of the group. No significant mods required really. The only thing I'd change re your plan is to dump the idea of a rtt. On a year long trip I'd imagine there are going to be plenty of stops where you will...

Where the frak did that Ambo go???

No, no. It's very nice and all but at the end of the day it's still a 17 yr old ambulance conversion. I'd take that $80k and start huntin up a Mog or something along those lines. Fuso maybe. Anyway, there was something in one of the pics that caught my eye that I wanted to reference, but...

Where the frak did that Ambo go???

I saw a thread with a very very nice Ambo conversion in it, that iirc was for sale for something like $79,000, and now I can't remember where I saw the lousy thing. If figure if anybody has seen it, no matter what site it was on, they probably hang out here.

3/4 Ton question- DIESEL 7.3l?6.4?6.7?Duramax?Cummins? for family rid and DD

General cost to own is not really that much of an issue for the diesel, even the modern one. Cost to repair is. And a warranty won't always save you. Warranties have been denied over water in fuel problems with the big 3 using the argument it's not their fault if the station you use sold you...

    Building a camping/bugout/SHTF setup?

Something to think about with the RTT. It's way better than sleeping on the ground. If your camping means going somewhere, parking there and staying put, a RTT is great. If you want to use your vehicle to move about over your camping weekend, they suck. And given your living situation I...

    Building a camping/bugout/SHTF setup?

I get ya. The thing is that most define "shtf" as some civilization ending event. Sometime between 9-5 the world has come to an end (somehow) and you've got to grab your get home bag and live off the land for the what, 5-20 mile hike that would get most folks back home. Or grab your BOB, hop...

    Building a camping/bugout/SHTF setup?

Oh, and don't get too caught up in that "SHTF" mentality. By and large it's a fantasy scenario few people can actually define with any logic. Being prepared for certain things is sensible, preparing for shtf is mostly not.
