Ummmm..... he has 265/70R16s on his Monty.....look at the chart and they are 8.70" so that's two inches per tire, two tires per axle, so 4" of lost tread width at the ground. EXACTLY what I said in the first place.
It doesn't matter anyway. ExPoers will load a couple hundred pounds of...
And that would be a great reason. I asked WHY in hopes of legitimate rationale like "larger tires", not "my brother's cousin's friend has a Tundra with 4.30s and it can tow a space shuttle...and so I need 4.30s too"
Thoughts:
A 120K mile rig is worth considerably less than one with 90K miles
90K miles of one-owner mall crawling is decidedly easier on the truck than 120K miles of whatever use dictated the addition of rock sliders and bumpers
The bumpers, rock sliders, wheels, and tires are all *USED* and...
You're looking at the French site, and the info there is outdated
Look at Michelintruck.com which is Michelin of North America. No, they do not manufacture or offer a 255/100-16 or 9.00-16 for North America

I would think a Jeep Cherokee 4.0 I6 5 spd would meet his criteria quite well. It would have every bit as much cargo capacity as a Blazer ZR2, for example. And better fuel economy than several on the list. Lots of aftermarket. A lot less expensive than a Tacoma.
But maybe there's a reason...
If you don't drive faster than 50 mph, and never need to make an emergency maneuver on the freeway, I think they are great choice. Have at it.
They are so great they're not even produced anymore.
I wouldn't give much credibility to what a tire shop tell you about mechanicals. If they've alerted you to a potential problem, great, just bring it to a real mechanic that you trust
It's pretty difficult to make a front differential failure sound like a wheel bearing (i.e. "larger lug on front...
It's a system, so the "noise" itself is coming from the actuators (like automatic hubs). They half-engage and grind the teeth. But that just might be the symptom. The solenoid might be bad (Ford has had three part number updates trying to solve the problem), or the vacuum lines might be clogged...
They're only $91 each

I'd bet it's the 4x4 hubs, what Ford calls IWE (Integrated Wheel Ends). No the actuators, the hubs themselves (one or both)

Thanks, the idea wasn't to sell his truck for him. He can do that.
I just wanted to give the contributors of the Domestic section a heads up for a cool, rare truck.
If someone's interested, I'll put you in touch.
It even has factory-ordered carpet delete -- XLT package with vinyl floor!
