Is the 2015 F150 hitting the dealer lots sooner rather than later?

No, you've got it right. It's not an unprecedented move. Ford and GM have done this before. The new F150 represents a bunch of new stamping technologies (as did the 1997 F150) and those tools are HUGE (Google 4000 ton Schuler Press) and take a long time to incorporate into the line. So it makes...

Planning my Escape Vehicle - LC/LX470, GX470 or Tacoma

ANY modern truck-based 4x4 will do 200K miles if it's taken care of. "Reliability" and "dependability" and "longevity" are so good (and so close) in modern trucks that one brand doesn't have a distinct advantage over another. They all have their little issues, and rarely have big ones. Paying...

    Tacoma only dealership.

Nope. Most are auction purchases. Nice use of Toyota's logos.....if Toyota was aware of this they would send a cease/desist the same day

    97 7.3L F250?

If it were me, I'd think you could buy a 2000-2003 Super Duty Diesel for $10K You'd pick up a solid front axle instead of that '97's TTB, an intercooler, and all of the other advances the newer body brought Or skip the diesel part and have all the same capabilities (the one's you'll actually...

Perhaps he didn't plan to take his $65K custom leather interiored Taco through deep water crossings?

Planning my Escape Vehicle - LC/LX470, GX470 or Tacoma

Not really, especially when buying used and doing so on a budget. If I had $40K to spend (or $30K, or $20K, or $5K) I'd see what my money would buy. If I could buy a 2008 'X' with 60K miles for $20K, but a 2008 'Y' would have 120K miles for that same $20K, I'd certainly have to question...

    Tire decision help

No. Please re-read my post. I fit different H2 upper and lower ball joints and H2 tie rod ends. I also fit factory wheels that have the correct offset for the wider tires. The truck handles significantly better (more stable) with the 285/70-17s, but my biggest reason for fitting them was the...

    Tacoma re-design: Predictions?

I think 30 mpg has to be a stated project goal in the Tacoma engineering team. There's no reason why it isn't possible. What's the point of a little truck if it isn't economical? Since a Ram with a 305hp V6 can earn an EPA official 25 mpg rating, a smaller truck with a four cylinder should do 30.

    Tire decision help

The Hummer H2 came standard with 315/70-17s. My Sub 2500 has the same basic suspension components, and I've upgraded my tie rod ends and ball joints with HD H2 units and run forged H2 wheels that shift the centerline to compensate for the increased width. So in my application, a 6,500 pound SUV...

    Tacoma re-design: Predictions?

The HiLux is an anomaly to the US market because Toyota doesn't have a full size truck in many of the markets the HiLux services. The US-built Tundra is largely a North-American-only truck, although the find their way to some other continents. So the HiLux needs to serve whatever pickup/ute...

    Diesel News: POST HERE

A new 2013 Jetta Diesel has an official EPA rating of 30 mpg city, 42 mpg highway, and 37 mpg combined average. Referencing anecdotal information opens Pandora's box. Using the official EPA rating for vehicles allows a direct comparison to a given standard. Some will do better, some will do...

Should I buy a higher mileage Honda Element?

My strategy is the opposite ZM97. Price it to sell, and don't negotiate. The internet has changed the game. Buyers often search (and filter) based on price. So if you think your truck is worth $10K and you'd take that, price it at $9999. "Asking" $12,000 will alienate you from potential buyers...

Should I buy a higher mileage Honda Element?

Yeah, just pop it on Craigslist and sell it yourself. It's easy to understand why a franchised dealer would have a hard time reconditioning and reselling that truck, where a private party can tell the story and sell it pretty quick.
