Trying not to be frustrated with the #LX45 by doing something, anything, to get it done. It looks like I will have to stick the tub back on without the wiring harness (yuck). I still need to pull the tcase off and run all the trans brackets and crossmember to the powder-coater. Maybe I will get...
Flat belly....
I was able to finish up the belly pan tonight. I added the 6061 3/4 square stock ribs to give it some more structure. These where drilled and tapped directly for the fasteners. Everything on the bottom of the belly pan is flush. The pan is light enough that I can pull it off...
Thanks Matt.
Pretty much all my tools are HF, Home Depot, or Amazon cheapies......yet everything works almost flawless. I'm not using them all day, but I wouldn't say I am easy on anything. I'd love to buy better tools, but honestly I would buy a few more cheapies before I would pony up big...
You know most of my tools are from Harbor Freight and I work out of my garage right?
I am a do more with less kind of guy. I can't afford to buy a specialty tool for everything......
More small projects on the #LX45 tonight. Added a few blind fasteners to the old lower grill mount holes. The belly pan came out again to get drilled for the support ribs and all the holes where countersunk for tapered heads. I also picked up one of those small belt sanders. That thing is super...
Little catch up....been slacking...
I ended up patching some small holes in the bottom corners of the grill. They started to allow me and needed to go. It was a pain in the rear but worth it.
I also had to add back some tabs to hold the grill screen insert to the botto edge of the main...
I like my 3d printed exhaust legos. I like being able to see it before I have to cut metal. I need to invest a bit more into being able to transfer the plastic data to the metal easily and quickly.
I can do it either way, but the 3d printed stuff does help eliminate some waste and time. I...
I'm still waiting on parts, but trying to get back in the groove....
Baby steps on the #LX45 tonight. I got most of the paint stripped and blasted off the grill shell. Now I am wondering if I should just fill in these little voids in the lower corners? Probably should.....
They where 17x9 with 5" BS. I think I ordered them from Summit, but I can't remember exactly what they where....
Nothing special, just a steel wheel with the highest load rating I could find.
Just a bit tonight...
I made templates for the rubber floor mats that will be on the tunnel with mounting holes. Then transferred that information over to the tunnel and added all the weld nuts needed. The amount of weld nuts in this thing is getting silly at this point....
I also fixed a...
Just a few things....
I did some future proofing on the tunnel tonight with a lot of weld nuts for the shifter boots. I think this style of weld nut is more durable and easier to install than the caged nut system. I like buying the longer ones with more thread length. You can always trim them...
Just trying to sort through some details while I wait for some parts to show up....
I am adding some big pins made out of some capped 1.5 tubing to the inside wall of the rocker guards. This will let me quickly hook a strap eye to the side of the vehicle if needed to stabilize the vehicle or...
Ok. I think I have a TIG welding problem. I can't stop TIG welding stuff on the #LX45. I finished welding up the seams on the tunnel. Now to add a few future proof things like making some shift boot bezels with weld nuts and some hold down stuff for the rubber floor mat idea I have...
