10 Days on the Road. From NC to CO, UT, and Back!

Great overall trip report, sorry about the return trip troubles. Denver has plenty of sketchy of areas as I've recently found out for myself. Once I accrue a cushion of vacation days, I hope to make it over to Utah in the spring. If you're ever back out West, I'd love to tag along!

Awesome, can't wait to see the rest! I'm out in CO now (was in NC); I'm with you on the difference in East versus West mountains. Magnitude aside, so much beauty found no matter the size. Love being at a tree filled 3,000 feet as much as being above the treeline at 11,000.

Short by Colorado standards, about 9800 ft. But as a CO newbie, I'm just glad "Henry" can breathe better up there than me.

You're correct, I bought the Jeep off a fellow ExPo member down in Atlanta earlier this spring. I brought it back to NC and now my wife and I are moving to Colorado for my new job. Super, super stoked to be taking it out West. Always wanted to build one of my other XJs but "Henry" made much more...

Warn winch, yes, it's an old XD9000i. Front bumper is unknown brand, previous owners installed it. Rear bumper is Warn, it's beefy but I wouldn't recommend it. I'd get something that has a slimmer design now. Since pic thread, here's another one from this weekend. Not every mile has to be off...

They are just the generic Yakima Q Towers that can be used on most cars. They mount to the roof/drip rails. The factory tracks are not used, so it is not an OEM piece but rather a complete replacement. http://www.yakima.com/shop/rack-systems/naked-roof

A fellow ExPo member who is law enforcement says it's technically a state unimproved road. So to my knowledge, it is. A ton of signage from property owners off the beginning of the road would like you to think otherwise though.

    2015 Renegade Trailhawk

Certainly suspicious indeed... and one thing FCA certainly lacks is the ability to communicate. Then again, they certainly aren't going to go out on a limb to sully their brand. Regardless, I think you're correct in that the ZF 9 spd might disappear as quickly as it appeared. It also seems other...

    2015 Renegade Trailhawk

My folks bought a Cherokee Trailhawk last summer and immediately took it on a 1500+ mile ramble through the Midwest. It's equipped with the V6 and over the course of the trip it even outperformed the EPA highway rating of 27 mpg and almost eclipsed 30 mpg on long highway stretches according to...
