    New bike

Thanks for all the info. I have a lot to think about. Trying to get all my ducks in a row first. I may even wait until current drivetrain is worn out first, idk. But thanks for the help.

    New bike

Still loving this bike. But now I have questions that even the place I bought it can't answer: It has a complete Sram eagle nx 1x12 drivetrain. It came with a 10-50 cassette and 32t front chainring. .........but I am NOT in good shape or good health and once I hit the same trails I rode in the...

    fridge: how to wire?

What ever you decide, do NOT use less than 10 gauge wire, everywhere in your system to fridge. If you do, you risk the risk of fire. We came within seconds of losing our 4RUNNER to fire as a result. Took a year for my burned fingers to heal. Use inline fuses and a fuse block and a resetable...

    hitch bike rack wobble

I just made my own. Used pipe as a spacer inside the hitch and a piece of threaded rod & used 2 nuts on each side. No movement at all. Can't collapse it because of the spacer pipe inside.

    Truck bed bike setup discussions

Lol, what I meant was: on a truck cap or overland bed rack, on the sides of it. Kinda like fold up when not in use, when in use, just remove the inside pedal and you can carry 2 bikes, 1 on each side. If made out of 1/4" aluminum, it should easily support a bike. That way you could still use...

    New bike

2023 Specialized Status 160. Absolutely love the suspension. The faster you go, the better it works. Literally light years ahead of my 1994 GT Backwoods hardtail and the 1997 GT LTS 3 that I had. May need to put one of my old comfortable seats on it in the beginning, until I get used to the...

    Truck bed bike setup discussions

Starting this thread to discuss the plethora of options.....but also new ideas. I started out making my own bed cover out of 2x4's & 3/4" plywood. Painted it red to match the paint on our 2000 Dodge Dakota quad cab. Bought 4 block heads from Grabber and made my own tire trays from pvc pipe, cut...

When did mountain biking become so specialized!

Yes, you could do that. But then you inherit every single accident/incident with the bike. I was at our local bike shop, and happened to witness this first hand. The young man thought he got the deal of a lifetime on a very long travel gravity bike that he bought from our local ski area. It...

When did mountain biking become so specialized!

I will be 60 this year. I am NOT a fitness expert. I am not a bike expert. I am not a repair expert. I am not in good shape. Now, with all that said, mtb has been expensive from day one, at least in my humble opinion. First mtb was a GT Backwoods in 94', $750. Next was a 97' GT LTS 3, $1200...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

Yeah, I certainly don't agree with the "only one choice" when it comes to cab size & bed size. I think that GM could make their sales quota for Colorado's just with fleet purchases. We literally just stopped by a Lexus dealer today because they had like 40 white vehicles that were identical...

Strong, new non-pneumatic bike tire invented by Bend Oregon resident

Technology is usually always cool, because it usually always improves whatever it is used on. But not in every scenario. At some point, cost has to be a consideration and at today's already outrageous price of things, I suspect that for us normal folks it won't even be a consideration. I am...

    New Bike Advice Needed

I will be 60 this year. I was, and still am overweight. Just lost 50 lbs and am at 200 now. I had a 1994 GT Backwoods hardtail and a 1997 GT LTS 3. Both great bikes that I wish I kept. We have a pair of GT Transio 3 right now. Great bikes for blacktop. Today, while we were out, my financial...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

The key, is in the details for the end user. For example: if the 2400 watt inverter is some outrageous amount of money or only attached to a package that is also crazy expensive........You can buy a 92% efficient 2000/4000 watt pure sine wave inverter at HF for $300. Or the 3000/6000 pure...

    Colorado slide in camper build

Fantastic build !!! Keep up the great work ! It is a pretty sad state of affairs that they won't make the frame (which is the very foundation of a truck) strong enough to even do light duty truck things. It's pathetic actually. I think that the ZR2 we have on order only has a weight rating...

Vehicle Fridge/Freezer That Stays Cold for 24-48 hours w/o Power?

I have gone 4 days with an ARB Classic 50 qt & a Cabelas X-900 deep cycle battery. Not sure what the issue is, just get a good battery and charger. You could theoretically run your aux battery to absolute dead flat and never have to worry because it is totally separate from the vehicle battery...

    ARB enters the fray

I saw that. Always good to have another choice. Innovation and outside the box ideas are how progress happens. I think it's cool, though never be able to afford one .

McKee Overland bed rack information wanted.

They are out of Oklahoma city. Is this Company still in business ? It seems they offer what I think is an awesome product, that I have seen nobody else copy, yet. Does anyone have one of their bed racks that can offer their opinion on it ? Thanks in advance for any help. We have a Summit...

    Schutt Industries - Xventure Owners

Yes, I think that may be a better option for us. To get one stripped and add our own. Already have much of the stuff, like 2 gp 31 batteries, blue sea switches, buss bars, circuit breakers, fuses, marine 2 circuit battery charger. Thanks for the help.

    Schutt Industries - Xventure Owners

I guess my next question would be: Is it possible to order a Schutt x2 or x3 stripped down with no kitchen, no electric ( other than road lights and brakes) ???

Dexter Axle Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly Pre Greased 8-201 Not under warranty unless installed on a Dexter Axel spindle Buyer beware

So glad that nobody was hurt and damage was minimal. When in my early 20's, we were lucky enough to camp next to an elderly couple who had been camping & towing for 60 years. I am 60 now. He shared some knowledge with me about camping and towing. First thing he said was: grease & pack your...
