The water jugs are Rubbermaid brand 6 gallon jugs. Got them many moons ago somewhere in Vegas. Probably a Big 5 store or Walmart or similar. I know they were pretty cheap $ and have held up well. They have a flex pour spout in the cap. I have 4 of them total and have not ruined one yet, in...

The fenders are stock M100 trailer fenders, with the CJ flares screwed onto the outer lip. The flares cover the 33's pretty well. I could probably use some mud flaps front and rear to keep the mess down; with the spring over, the fenders set high.

I would think the salvage title may be the killer here.

I am old, and hate trying to lift/pour 5 gallon gas cans. The water jugs can be used with a super siphon easily. A 5 gallon can won't set upright on the trailer side unless the top is kicked out severely. And, I don't trust the gas cans laying on the sides. As an alternative, I can strap...

    Offroad Teardrop - SawTooth XL

Jess, really like your build. I could never have that much patience to plan and talent to execute it well. Jimbo beat me to it; and I tend to overbuild my projects. I would try some sort or retaining strap on the bottom of the box. I think some light strapping steel would sure give some piece...

stock 1953 springs and shocks, just flipped the axle to a spring over. The hand brake cable took some rerouting and had to redrill some brackets.

I never noticed the shocks doing anything when the trailer was loaded, only helped with a bit of sway and bounce when empty.

    Grand Cherokee opinions

Frankly, after much more searching; I find the Grand Cherokee to not be the one for me. My truck sale did not go through so no cash available. I am looking into a trade on a semi built XJ that may prove to be more for me. I don't want maintenance nightmares and am somewhat leary of the more...

    Grand Cherokee opinions

I appreciate the insight. I am concerned about ground clearance issues and I don't want to tear up a nice rig. A Taco/TRD with a light shell may be a better choice. No kids so don't really need the seating.

Any thoughts on using a 99-2004 ish GC for an adventure/mild wheeling rig? I realize ground clearance can be an issue. I think the comfort and convenience is covered already. I am getting rid of my rockcrawler pickup and want the comfort and roadability. Also comparing a Tacoma extra cab for...

I could not place the struts right where I wanted them due to the tailgate opening. I kept the brace, there are actually one on each end; for peace of mind. The struts barely hold the lid in the open position, and don't take much to get to close.

My M100 fenders are roughly 32" from end to end across the opening; and about 12" deep from that plane to the top of the fender. Hope that helps. I believe that Quadratec still sells the CJ flares. Edit: Just found them. 4 piece flare set for CJ5 and 7, OEM style replacement flares. Part #...

    Box Rocket Homemade trailer build.

Couple thoughts. I just did the inside of my trailer with Hippoliner, the kind you can color. What a waste of money that was. Nothing more than thick paint that barely covers primer after three coats. Would have been better off to go to Walmart and get a gallon of house paint and throw a...

Pico's are coming, Pico's are coming!!!

One more Pico fan here. Saw them at a local surplus/camp store. Was a bit timid of the price. Asked the salesman if they were tough enough. He sat down in the chair and had his wife set in his lap. He said their combined weight was about 340. My wife sat in one and said we are getting...

    Best One Pot Meals

For many years now, my wife and I cook a large batch of chili, stew, or spaghetti sauce in the 36 qt. slow cooker at home. We then put it into 1 gallon ziplock freezer bags and lay them on their side in the freezer. We put just enough in each bag for one meal for the two of us. Come time to...
